Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent
testified in a Manhattan courtroom that his gaudy jewelry and luxury cars are
all for show.
According to 50, who was
listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the top five richest Hip Hop artists with a
net worth of $155 million, all of the diamonds and Ferraris are loan outs that
have to be returned.
“I take all of the jewelry and
cars back to the stores.”
Jackson was ordered to pay $5
million to Rick Ross‘ child’s mother, of whom Fif released an explicit sex romp
with a former boyfriend. Jackson’s lawyer vehemently declares that his client
is only worth $4.4 million dollars, which prompted his recent bankruptcy
declaration.
When the judge asked the multi
platinum recording artist about selling 38 million records, 50 replied,
“I only make 10 cents a
record.”
While Forbes estimated the
rapper's fortune to be about $155 million in May, Jackson's lawyer said in
court Tuesday that his client's worth is $4.4 million, which presents a problem
after he was hit last week with a $5 million verdict for publishing a sex tape
starring rival Rick Ross' ex-girlfriend.
Jackson explained in court
that while his social-media accounts may be filled with flashy photos, "I
take the jewelry and the cars back to the stores," according to the New
York Daily News.
