|Dedicated To The Lion That Was Gruesomely Murdered|
Cecil the lion was shot, beheaded and skinned by an American hunter after being lured out of a Zimbabwean national park. The murder of Cecil has rightly sparked anger around the world.
We pause to mourn Cecil and all the animals whose lives are stolen from them. Cecil was loved by humans, but his life was important because it mattered to him, just as the lives of chickens strung up for slaughter, or cows having a bolt shot through their brain, matter to them.
If you are outraged by the killing of Cecil, please extend your circle of compassion to all the billions of innocent animals whose lives are taken every day around the world.
ANIMALS ARE NOT OURS to hunt, eat, wear, experiment on or exploit.
A 68-year-old Russian woman has been arrested for poisoning and dismembering another pensioner. She is also suspected of a second murder.
Tamara Samsonova is accused of killing a 79-year-old woman in St Petersburg before cutting up the body and dumping it. Local sources reported that the police had found a diary in which she described around 10 similar killings, according to AFP.
While officials say they have no evidence to add these to the charges, they are charging Samsonova with the killing of a 44-year-old man who rented an room from her. He was also dismembered after his killing.
Police say they found a metal saw and traces of blood in a bath at Samsonova’s home.

Phone data could predict with 87% accuracy whether someone had depressive symptoms
Most of us are pretty attached to our phones, and researchers are starting to figure out what that connection can tell us about our health, including our mood. In fact, your phone may be able to tell if you’re depressed even better than a self-assessment of your own depression can, according to a small new study published in theJournal of Medical Internet Research.
“We found that the more time people spend on their phones, the more likely they are to be more depressed,” says David Mohr, one of the authors of the study and director of the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The researchers also found that spending lots of time at home was linked to depression—and that phone data like this could predict with 87% accuracy whether someone had symptoms of depression.

Scientists believe they have found a link between eye colour and alcohol dependency.
The study, by genetic researchers at the University of Vermont, found that people with blue eyes are more likely to become alcoholics.
The work was led by Arvis Sulovari, a doctoral student in cellular, molecular and biological sciences, and Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Dawei Li, Ph.D.
Li began his research in 2012 and built up a data base of 10,000 African Americans and European Americans. All of which had been diagnosed with at least one psychiatric illness or an addiction like alcohol dependency.
The study was then narrowed down to 1,263 people struggling with alcohol addiction.

There’s something to be said
about people who get rich. That in and of itself is an accomplishment that most
of us simply won’t reach. In the past, most people who got rich did so over a
fairly long period of time. But as technology has gotten more popular, the
world simply moves at a much, much faster pace than it used to. With the advent
of YouTube stars, app moguls and the technologically savvy, the truth is that
most anyone can be a millionaire these days. Just take a look at the three
youngest billionaires in the world:
3. Yang Huiyan
How many times have we heard
the old, tired trope of the spoiled kids who inherit all their fortunes and
squander it in a matter of years? Far too often of you ask us. Among the more
refreshing rich people on this list is Yang Huiyan. Huiyan is the daughter of
Chinese real estate mega mogul Yeung Kwok Keung, who owns one of China’s
largest real estate development companies. Her father transferred all his
shares in the company to his daughter who has taken it upon herself to run the
strategic end of the company. She’s worth over $4.9 billion.

Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent testified in a Manhattan courtroom that his gaudy jewelry and luxury cars are all for show.
According to 50, who was listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the top five richest Hip Hop artists with a net worth of $155 million, all of the diamonds and Ferraris are loan outs that have to be returned.
“I take all of the jewelry and cars back to the stores.”
Jackson was ordered to pay $5 million to Rick Ross‘ child’s mother, of whom Fif released an explicit sex romp with a former boyfriend. Jackson’s lawyer vehemently declares that his client is only worth $4.4 million dollars, which prompted his recent bankruptcy declaration.

From the Oval Office, President Obama congratulated his counterpart on his “historic” election over his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan and praised his “reputation of integrity.”
President Buhari, Obama said, “has a very clear agenda of defeating Boko Haram and extremists of all sorts… and of rooting out the corruption that has too often held back the economic growth and prosperity of his country.” On both issues, he stated, he looks forward to increasing partnership between the two countries.

Jack Ma, the founder and executive chairman of Alibaba, became the richest man in China after Alibaba IPO'd for a record $25 billion last September.
But Ma was just as happy — perhaps even happier — when he was barely making any money right out of college.
After graduating in 1988, Ma worked as an English teacher at a local university in his hometown of Hangzhou, China. He only made $12 a month, according to the documentary about his life called "Crocodile in the Yangtze."
When speaking at a luncheon with the Economics Club of New York on Tuesday, Ma referred to this period as the "best life I had."
In search of peace? Maybe it's time to move to Iceland.
According to the nonprofit Institute for Economics and Peace, the thinly populated island in the midst of the North Atlantic has retained its place as the most peaceful country in the world.
The institute released its Global Peace Index for 2015 this week, which ranks 162 nations around the globe based on factors like the level of violent crime, involvement in conflicts and the degree of militarization.
Six out of the top 10 most peaceful countries were European, with Denmark and Austria holding the second and third spots.
"Europe maintained its position as the most peaceful region in the world, supported by a lack of domestic and external conflicts," the report said.
But that glowing review is helped by the fact that violence-plagued Ukraine is lumped into a different region: Russia and Eurasia.
U.S. in bottom half of rankings

The leader of the Muslims in Nigeria, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has said the Boko Haram sect was out to destroy Islam in the country. Abubakar, who is also the Sultan of Sokoto and president general, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) made this known on Monday night, July 13, during a Ramadan dinner he hosted for members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto state chapter.
He denied claims that the dreaded sect was carrying out their violent activities for the sake of Islam, saying they were against the religion of Islam since it means peace, Leadership reports. Abubakar said:

Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was able to escape in relative comfort, because new photos show he had a top notch construction crew that could pass inspection in most cities.
It's probably a good thing the cuisine in Mexican jail isn't five star, because the hole would barely accommodate a 32" waist.
But once Chapo scurried down the hole, it was clear sailing because the rig was borderline comfortable.
Chapo's contributors sparrowed no expense ... a bird was used to test the tunnel for toxic fumes. The sparrow didn't fare as well as Chapo.
10,000 officers (and one billionaire) are on high alert as they try to recapture him.

Ah the outgoing introvert – the most complex and satisfying of all puzzles.
We have mad layers of depth and feelings…like an onion. Or something. I don’t know. Just read and get to know what you’re getting yourself into before dating us, okay?
1. When we see you after a long day, we might be all irritable and not want to talk
It has nothing to do with you. Outgoing introverts, though still introverts at their core, often need to recharge after a large use of social energy. After a long day of dealing with people, our social batteries are drained and we need to unwind and recover, usually alone.
2. We’re charming creatures and can be the life of the party, but…
You’ll be surprised how much we actually live in our heads. People often confuse us for extroverts, but we’re too introspective and over-think too much to be one.
3. If we like you, we really like you.
We don’t waste our time with people we’re not completely crazy about. If we agreed to go on a date with you, we like you. Take it as a huge compliment.

It’s an age-old question: Can money buy happiness?
Over the past few years, new research has given us a much deeper understanding of the relationship between what we earn and how we feel. Economists have been scrutinizing the links between income and happiness across nations, and psychologists have probed individuals to find out what really makes us tick when it comes to cash.
The results, at first glance, may seem a bit obvious: Yes, people with higher incomes are, broadly speaking, happier than those who struggle to get by.
But dig a little deeper into the findings, and they get a lot more surprising—and a lot more useful.
In short, this latest research suggests, wealth alone doesn’t provide any guarantee of a good life. What matters a lot more than a big income is how people spend it. For instance, giving money away makes people a lot happier than lavishing it on themselves. And when they do spend money on themselves, people are a lot happier when they use it for experiences like travel than for material goods.

The Federal Ministry of Health yesterday, 9th of July spoke on the fake doctor saga that rocked the ministry.
Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Linus Awute, while addressing journalists in Abuja said the ministry would request for a refund of the salaries and other entitlements enjoyed by the doctor, Martins Ugwu Okpe in the past 9 years.
“It is important to place it on record that the Federal Ministry of Health does not employ any of its members of staff directly. He was recruited through the Federal Civil Service Commission which has the statutory powers to do so and then deploys such employed civil servants to any ministry, department or agency according to their discipline and relevance.”

All the supporting documents he tendered were also stolen from his friend. His friend, Dr. George Davidson Daniel has offered to appear publicly to clear his name of the crime.
Following a video UK-based writer and allegedly popular socialite, Yetunde Oduwole aka Yetunde Bustline released yesterday on YouTube where she lamented the heartbreak her ex-lover and popular Yoruba actor Babatee caused her, the latter has narrated his own side of the story.
Yetunde in the video had claimed that despite giving Babatee her all, he turned around to cause her pain. She also warned him to desist from his campaign of calumny against her because no one, especially men, who she has loved but who treated her badly, ever make a headway in life.
In an exclusive chat with E247mag, the actor denied hurting his ex, claiming she threatened him several times with arrest while they were together in the UK.
See his interesting response below:
"I was marveled when I saw what the 'wannabe' London big babe, as people write (this makes me laugh), Yetunde wrote on her blog yesterday and today. I think I just need to put some things straight. Please Yetunde, how many stories do you want to tell us? You know deep within your heart that you asked me out, though people may not know. It was even reported when you came to Nigeria to beg me to marry you. You were stalking me around during my movie shoot in order to spite your ex-husband. You went to church and told me that your pastor told you not to think about your husband again. Why are you now turning the story around and telling lies?

As prison populations surge in the UK, with overcrowded cells and repeat offenders, the opposite is happening in the Netherlands.
The country is actually to close eight prisons because of a lack of criminals, the Dutch justice ministry has announced.
Declining crime rates in the Netherlands mean that although the country has the capacity for 14,000 prisoners, there are only 12,000 detainees, reported the nrc.nl.
The decrease is expected to continue, the ministry said, with Deputy justice minister Nebahat Albayrak saying that natural redundancy and other measures should counter any forced lay-offs.

Summer days: They're what childhood memories are made of, glorious afternoons of unchecked freedom to frolic with friends in the sun, unshackled from the earthly obligations of a math class that never seemed further away.
But for millions of schoolgirls in Egypt, this time of year represents something much darker: the start of the female genital mutilation (FGM) season.
Mona Mohamed was 10 years old when she underwent what's also known as a female circumcision on a hot summer day in her village in Upper Egypt.
"I was terrified," she said. "They tied me down, my mother on one hand and my grandmother on the other."
As Mona thrashed around, pinned by her loved ones to the living room floor, a doctor injected her with anesthesia.

Just last week, the US Supreme Court legalized same sex marriage, hundred of years after ‘they’ pontificated the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah due to immoral act of homosexuality.
This same people convinced us that New Yam, Egungun, Igue festivals etc are ungodly. Yet, Halloween is established, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is accepted, and countless days of known and unknown saints are celebrated.
Again, they told us to tear down shrines of our chi or ori (guardian angel) while we are drawn to the shrines of ‘guardian saints’ in the churches.
They made us destroy all forms of traditional medicines on account of taste, colour and odour, while they have craftily introduced their alternatives - Ginseng, Forever Living, GNLD, Organogold, Trevo, Origin etc.
The most painful till date is the how they convinced us to set fire to our A-Grade cannabis (certified by Shabba Ranks, when he smoked Fela’s) whereas they have grown their pot market to $10.7 billion industry.
My take is that 80% - 90% of what guides religious doctrines are certain individuals’ preferences instituted by claim of divinity. Whereas, 90% of the rule/ laws that guard the society are determined by few individuals for some implicit reasons other than the explicit benefit to the larger society.
In conclusion, no nation or people will develop using the template of foreign nations. And no individual can be genuinely happy with the prescriptions of others.

A Miami-Dade judge and a burglary suspect had a one-of-a-kind reunion in bond court, as the man broke down in tears, while the judge offered him some supportive advice.
Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer never expected a middle school reunion would occur while on the job.
"Mr. Booth, I have a question for you," she asked 49-year-old Arthur Booth.
"Yes, ma'am?" he responded.
"Did you go to Nautilus for middle school?"
"Oh, my goodness," said Booth, as he covered his mouth in shock.
Booth, now a suspected burglar, was reunited with his middle school classmate decades later in the court of law. When realizing who his judge was, he broke down in tears.
"Sorry to see you there," said the judge. "Mr. Booth, I hope you're able to change your ways, good luck to you."
Booth's bond was set at $43,000

The Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) has terminated the appointment of Stephen Keshi as Head Coach of the Senior National Football Team, Super Eagles.
A statement by the NFF Executive Committee on Saturday said the decision was made, “having thoroughly reviewed the reports/findings of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and NFF Technical and Development Committee, as well as having reviewed the actions and inactions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the performance of his duties as Super Eagles’ Head Coach.”
The Chief Security Officer to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abdulrahman
Mani, has been relieved of his appointment, a month after he was appointed.
His sack may not be unconnected with the battle between the Directorate of State Security, DSS, and the Nigerian Army over which agency should provide close body protection for the president, a role that has traditionally been carried out by the DSS.

A British family of 12 who were feared to have joined in Isis in Syria have released a statement confirming that they have indeed fled to the self-proclaimed caliphate.
The Mannan family, from Luton, including a 75-year-old patriarch and a baby of one, said in the statement that “we are in the Islamic State” and “we feel safer than we have ever felt before”.
They had not been seen 17 May, having flown to their homeland of Bangladesh on 10 April and then to Istanbul in Turkey on 11 May – prompting Bedfordshire Police to launch an appeal to trace them.
Now the Mannans have declared that they have made it to Syria. A statement posted on the Isis website amounts to a broadside against the “so called freedom and democracy” of the “totalitarian” West, which they said is trying to brainwash Muslims.
The statement, released on the family’s behalf, says: “Yes, all 12 of us and why should this number be shocking, when there are thousands and thousands of Muslims from all corners of the world that are crossing over land and sea everyday to come to the Islamic State?
"Don't be shocked when we say that none of us were forced against our will. In fact it is outrageous to think that an entire family could be kidnapped and made to migrate like this.“

On July 6, 2014, hiplife artiste, Castro, born Theophilus Tagoe and his female companion, Janet Bandu disappeared during a jet-ski ride on the Volta river in Ada and many are those who believe the police charged with searching for them are not doing enough.
There are even some who believe the police has entirely stopped looking for the two but DSP James Benefo Darkwah, PRO of the Police CID, says the search is still on.
“We have not given up. We still make constant checks to find out if there is anything new. We are still searching for them. The investigations to locate the whereabout of both Castro and Janet Bandu are still ongoing.
We have extended the search and Interpol Ghana has informed their colleagues in the sub-region to search as well. That is to let us know if they come across any missing persons. They have been given the necessary information about them so we are still searching.”
He said they were still open to all possibilities and hoped they would still locate the two missing persons.
“We are still hoping for a positive result from our search and since every case is treated on its own merit, we have not given up hope. Legally we can only pronounce them dead after seven years so at the moment we believe they are alive” he said.
This is because The Evidence Act of 1975, Section 33, says a person can only be declared legally dead after seven years by a court, where the person in question has not been seen or heard from in seven years despite diligent and persistent efforts to find him.

Brody Jenner -- who would've thought that somebody from "The Hills" would become this insightful and un-obnoxious later on in life?
During a recent interview about Caitlyn Jenner, Brody -- who's not had a terribly long history of getting along with his parent -- had this to say:
"I've known Bruce for a long time and I didn't really get along with Bruce -- Caitlyn I get along with a little more, because Caitlyn is actually who she really is and she's living her life finally now as the person that she always was. ... What are my thoughts on the transition? It's incredible. I think that it's probably one of the most historical things that's happened in a long [time].' ... Be yourself. And if you're not accepted by your family, there will be people who will accept you.''
Mariah Carey has a plan. A plan to get the attention of the billionaire Aussie dude that lured her to the Spanish islands for the purposes of illicit interludes. Perhaps get him to notice her rather ample bosom in the various low cut and tiny tops she's been spilling out of this past week on the beach, yachts, and docks. I mean, it can't hurt, can it?
Not that Mariah is hurting for cash, but she is single again with no man around the house, and two fortunes are always better than one. Why not spill forth from the swimsuit and remind the gentleman suitor what lay in store for him when the commitment is real and the pre-nups have been legally certified.
Big hearty chest fluffy funbags of a multi-platinum recording artist. That's a something. Love is overrated. Big bouncy melons on a world class diva are underrated. It all evens out somewhere along the way. Enjoy.

It’s the tiresome-but-important saga that has dominated news headlines for months: Greece and its debt crisis.
But while it might have strained the patience of key players like Jean-Claude Juncker and Alexis Tsipras, it was a 29-year-old from London who finally snapped.
Thom Feeney, fed-up with the ongoing deadlock between Greece and its international lenders, set up a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to help Athens.
In just two days it has raked in – at the time of writing – around 600,000 euros, from around 36,000 people.
Crowdfunding is a way of raising money online from ordinary people, instead of going to a bank.
Mr Feeney, who works in a shoe shop, said: “All this dithering over Greece is getting boring. European ministers flexing their muscles and posturing over whether they can help the Greek people of not. Why don’t we the people just sort it instead?
Culture, socialization, orientation, Language, Customs and norms are different all over the world and are country inclined.
Well acceptable Culture, Norms or Language in a particular country might be a taboo or non-acceptable in another country but the beauty of it all it makes the world be a funny place to live.
A hand gesture can be harmless in one country, but be highly offensive in another. Likewise, a kiss on a cheek in one country might mean a sign of betrayer in another.
This will help you to understand and avoid faux pas on your trip to a foreign country.
