NEW YORK STATE SENATE PAYS TRIBUTE TO ACHEBE






New York State Senate Pays Tribute To Achebe

In recognition of his literary works, the Senate of New York State in the United States,  passed a resolution paying tribute to acclaimed author, Professor Chinua Achebe. Achebe died on March 21 in Boston, Massachusetts where he was a professor at Brown University.
In the resolution, the Senate said Achebe’s global significance lies not only in his talent and recognition as a writer, but also as a critical thinker and essayist who wrote extensively on questions of the role of culture in Africa along with the social and political significance of aesthetics and analysis of the post-colonial state in Africa.

LUIS SUAREZ : LIVERPOOL'S MAN EATER

Not until he tweeted apologetically, I was so defensive of the Liverpool striker Luis Suarez amidst augment with my friends before and after the match for his misbehavior.
I told my friends that he almost did but didn’t actual bite Branislav Ivanovic in today’s Premiership match. Surprisingly, he apologized for his inexcusable behavior through his tweeter. Whaoo! What a man eater on the field, I said.
Suarez action has been described as ‘Unacceptable’ by his manager Brendan Rodgers.

According to Souness, ‘people will be talking about this incident for long, long time and it’s going to show Liverpool in a very bad light especially in this week of all weeks, anniversary of Hillsborough, ‘he added.
Before this incident, Suarez also did the same when he was in Ajax against Otman Bakkal (midfielder) of PSV Eindhoven and was penalized with a seven match ban.

YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN’T HIDE: BOSTON SUSPECT WAS IN SCHOOL AFTER THE INCIDENT



Like the chases in James Bond, The Fugitive and Salt movies, the city of Boston took a dramatic turn as a total lock down came on the chase of the 2nd Boston Bomb suspect. The FBI swing into action with police in serious man hunt and the citizens on alert and providing useful information about Dzhokar through various means and available social media. Google map was in high use for the geographical locations of the suspect, places he might hide and the whole view of Boston and its environment.
Police and ambulance sirens were the common sound in this once peaceful city as it rumbles the aftermath of the bomb tragedy.  The tension created by the explosion and suspect on the run was beyond measurable for Boston citizens especially the neighbours of the suspect where he resides and school.

OMOTOLA MAKES TIME MAGAZINE MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE



Nollywood actress, Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde, has been named amongst the 100 most influential people in the world, describing the 34 year old as “Africa’s most renowned leading lady.” The TIME Magazine made the announcement yesterday.
Jolade-Ekeinde was named in the 2013 icons category of the list alongside young Pakistani activist; Malala Yousafzai, US first lady Michelle Obama, Burmese pro-democracy activist; Aung San Sun Kyi, RnB diva; Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and controversial Italian footballer; Mario Balloteli.

LEADERSHIP Columnist, Fethullah Gulen also made the list under the leaders category.
Others in the category are Duchess of Cambridge; Kate Middleton, Chinese tennis champion; Li Na, three times Oscar award winner; Daniel Day-Lewis.
Writing a profile on the actress who recently launched a reality show about her life on M-NET;  TIME’s movie critic, Richard Corliss, described Omotola as the “Queen of Nollywood.”

Fondly called OmoSexy by her fans, she has made 300 or so movies, from the 1996 Mortal Inheritance to the 2010 super production Ijé, shot partly on location in Los Angeles.
Married to an airline pilot she met on a flight from Lagos to Benin, Jalade-Ekeinde brings a juggler’s grace to her roles as actress, singer, reality-show star, mother of four and philanthropist (the Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme)” the profile reads.

FIRST OFFICIAL PICTURES OF REAL BOSTON BOMB SUSPECTS







A new image has emerged of the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings calmly walking away from the scene of carnage. The image taken by Florida businessman David Green emerged just hours after the FBI lodged an appeal to identify two suspects behind the attacks that killed three and injured over 180. His picture shows runners and spectators fleeing in panic around the suspect, closely resembling the man identified by officials as Suspect Number Two, who is wearing a white basketball cap and a dark hooded sweatshirt. Mr Green has spoken to the FBI and told the New York Times and CNN's Piers Morgan that agents believe the man is Suspect Number Two
