New York State Senate Pays Tribute To Achebe
In recognition of his literary works, the
Senate of New York State in the United States, passed a resolution
paying tribute to acclaimed author, Professor Chinua Achebe. Achebe died on March 21 in Boston,
Massachusetts where he was a professor at Brown University.
In the resolution, the Senate said Achebe’s global significance
lies not only in his talent and recognition as a writer, but also as a critical
thinker and essayist who wrote extensively on questions of the role of culture
in Africa along with the social and political significance of aesthetics and
analysis of the post-colonial state in Africa.
