He was a legendary scoring machine in human form and two times Africa football of the year before quitting the game of football. Now he quits everything through a farewell to the complex and complicated world.

Rasheed Yekini ‘the hulk’ was a footballer with Guinness book of records to his name
and an accomplished goal scorer for Nigeria during his days as a player.

Yekini who was better known for his superlative ways of scoring from different angles, especially impossible angles, was the first Nigerian to ever score in FIFA World Cup and was instrumental to the country winning the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations.

Reports said that this lad gave up the ghost on Friday after a brief illness in a hospital in Ibadan and will be buried on Saturday according to Moslem doctrine.

He stated his football career with the then famous Super Stars of Ibadan in 1982 and two years later, 1984, he joined Abiola Babes Football (which was owned by late MKO Abiola, the Africa pillar of sport) before moving again to Africa Sports of Abidjan in Ivory Coast.

His international career was further enriched when he joined Setubal club of Portugal then Olympiacos of Greece, Zurich, Bizerte, Al-Shabab, Africa Sports and Julius Berger respectively. His last club was Gateway of Abeokuta where he hanged boots as a footballer in 2005.
