AMERICAN IDOL FAVORITE JOSHUA LEDET IS ELIMINATED

It was a moment the 20-year old Westlake, Louisiana throwback singer Joshua Ledet wish never came as the host (Ryan Seacrest) announced the third-place finisher and Phillip Phillips was paired with Jessica Sanchez for the final round.

Judges’ comments about Joshua’s performances:

Steven:
Steven said that he had "never heard anything like" Joshua's performance of "It's A Man's Man's Man's World".
Steven said "you're such a great artist" after Joshua's performance of "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees at the Top 5 performance show.
Steven told Joshua "any time you sing, you sell it" after his performance of "Runaway Baby" by Bruno Mars at the Top 7 performance show.
Steven asked "How can someone sing like you at your age?" after Joshua's performance of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Simply Red.

Jennifer:
Jennifer told Joshua that his performance of "When A Man Loves A Woman" was the "best thing I've ever seen on American Idol".
Jennifer told Joshua that he is one of the best singers she has seen in 50 years after his performance of "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees.
Jennifer said that the Joshua part of the show was her "favorite part of the show" after his performance of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".
Joshua's performance of "You Pulled Me Through" prompted Jennifer to respond "that voice is from another world".

Randy:
Randy said that Joshua's performance of "It's A Man's Man's Man's World" was "one of the best performances in the history of any singing how ever".
Randy said that Joshua's performance of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was "unbelievable".
After Joshua's performance of "You Raise Me Up" Randy said he was a "great artist".
Randy told Joshua that he has the power to bring back R&B in a different kind of way after Joshua's performance of "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" by the Temptations.
Randy told Joshua that his performance of "I Wish" was "flawless" and "unbelievable".

Viewers’ Reaction about Joshua elimination:
"They sabotaged Joshua and Jessica," raged reader Rienell John Llevado in a comment on an MTV News story in which Ledet called his elimination a "relief."

"Jessica got lucky she has the support she needed to go on. They will do the same thing again this Tuesday. They are giving their golden boy the best to bring him on top. After all, isn't 'American Idol' loves white guys with guitar only? Don't worry Josh, you're right when you said you could still have a successful career even if you don't win 'Idol.'"

Another reader, Keish, claimed that the voting was rigged because after always getting a message that their vote was counted before, there was no such message Thursday night. "I voted so many times & still got nothing! Josh you are the winner!!!"

Khan lamented that Ledet — who was touted by the judges as one of the best singers to ever grace the "Idol" stage — should not have been eliminated, because, "someone with that kind of voice should never be voted off a singing competition." A number agreed and added that Joshua is probably better in the long run because his singing style has a timeless quality and, besides, the recent track record of WGWG (white guys with guitars) has been pretty dismal anyway.

"American did not vote based on the talent," opined Lamran2010. "How come Joshua was voted off ... it is not fair." Interestingly, given the shrieks of joy Phillips often elicits on the show, a number of the comments derided his meat-and-potatoes singing style and predicted that voters would turn out in force for Sanchez next week. "Wow, how can America get it so hopelessly wrong year after year" wondered Muzz W. "Go Jessica, Phil Phillips should have gone weeks ago." Then again, Koo was not having it, bidding "good riddents [sic] Joshua" and proclaiming the singer a "drama mama."

  1. I don’t think it was fair that Joshua was voted off either, but his style may not appeal to the majority of the viewing audience, despite his huge talent. He’ll have a great career in R&B anyway though. Normally I wouldn’t even be able to discuss the show until later today, because I’m busy during the week, and don’t get to wee the show until the weekend. Watching commercial free PrimeTime Anytime recordings with Auto Hop really helps. I realized I had time of watch while I get ready for work at Dish, if I chose to skip the commercials because I can save nearly 40 minutes.

  2. I also think he will do well in his career. Anyway, all the winners of this reality show have not really shake the world with good album or song, so he should forge ahead to make something for himself with or without American Idol
