The Times reported this week on a white middle-class
family in South Africa
that moved into a 100-square-foot shack with no electricity or running water in
a poor shantytown for one month. The Hewitt family undertook this experiment as
an attempt to understand the kind of living conditions that millions of black
South Africans endure every day as a legacy of South Africa's race-based apartheid
system.
Apartheid officially started in 1948.
When did it end?
·
1963
·
1994
·
2010
·
It
never ended; apartheid is still the official policy in South Africa.
