Though the year still has some
days to go, the folks at Microsoft’s Bing search engine are ready to call it in
favor of uber-celeb Kim Kardashian. The
socialite-turned-reality-TV-star-turned-entrepreneur-turned-cover-model
dethroned songstress BeyoncĂ© as Bing’s most searched person of 2014.
A word of caution here: The
people who are the top 10 most searched names are pretty much the people you
wish we weren’t obsessed with. So, scan the list at the risk of falling into a
pit of despair.
Kardashian topped the list
this year, Bing-sters note, thanks to her “buzzworthy Vogue cover, extravagant
wedding to Kanye, and her photos that ‘broke the Internet.'” And, yes, I’m
linking to none of them.
In the far more mundane world
of actual news, Bing also revealed our top 10 interests.
The World Cup was first on the
list. But most of the entrants indicated, on a more hopeful note, that when
real news is happening, people are willing to pay attention and make some
attempt to be informed: Ebola, Ferguson, ISIS, Malaysia Jet, Ukraine.
