One of the revelations that came out from the hacking of Sony was the contemplation by senior brass in the company of ditching Daniel Craig, the latest James Bond, in favor of Idris Elba, the British actor whose parents are from Benin republic in Africa. Immediately this was made known, many ‘whites’ are already up in arms against the idea. According to reports, the charge of the ‘whites’ are being led by drug abuser Rush Limbaugh, who according to the Huffingpost can’t stand the idea of a black man playing James Bond.
In the Huffpost article,
Limbaugh is quoted as saying “James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian
Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was.”
“But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a
black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland.”
“But that’s not who James Bond
is,” he continued, acknowledging, “and I know it’s racist to probably point
this out.”
On the other hand, Elba
himself was quoted in an interview with NPR as saying that he didn’t want to be
cast as James as the black James Bond.
“Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond, and Daniel Craig wasn’t
the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don’t want to be called the
black James Bond.”
My question is what is wrong
with playing the Black James Bond if there is a book written exclusively to
enable a black play the Black James Bond?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that as I have written such a
book in the “The Broederbond Conspiracy,” a book that was adapted by the San
Francisco State University to teach students how to write a spy novel.
My question has been why do we
always wait for ‘white’ people to do their things, and we want to barge in and
demand that we be included? Why couldn’t
we do our own thing, and let them barge in?
Hence, it was the idea when I
started writing the “Broederbond Conspiracy,” as a counter to the ‘white’ James
Bond.
Now Idris Elba will be perfect
for the role of Chima Amadi in the Black James Bond as in the Broderbond Conspiracy. We don’t have to be continuously shamed and
debased to begging for something when we can make our own utopia. I am ready to auction rights to “The
Broederbond Conspiracy,” the Black James Bond.
