When the pictures of the transition of Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner surfaced on the internet via Vanity Fair Magazine, something struck my mind about him....that was his accomplishments when he was still a He and that of Olympic medicals won was the major thing on my mind. I told a friend he could be petitioned, but he said that can never be used against the new Caitlyn.
Surprising, few hours to his new life, articles regarding the above now trending on the internet.
We wish we could say there's been nothing but positivity for Caitlyn Jenner when she made her world debut on the cover of Vanity Fair a couple of days ago, but sadly some people just had to rain on her parade.
Granted there weren't too many negative things said about her, seeing as how all the positive things outweighed the bad, but there have been some notable negative reactions.
One of which is this petition started on Change.org asking the International Olympic Committee to revoke Caitlyn of her gold medals — all of them.
The petition was created on Monday, when the 65-year-old's cover came out and has since then gained 3,856 signatures.
Read the petition below:
"Dear International Olympic Committee,
It has recently come to light that gold medalist Bruce Jenner is in fact transgender, and therefore, identifies as a woman. We congratulate Ms. Jenner on these new developments and wish her the best. However, this creates somewhat of a problem as Ms. Jenner (as talented as she is) claims that she has always believed herself to be truly female, and therefore, was in violation of committee rules regarding women competing in men's sports and vice versa. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that we must ask whether or not it is proper that Ms. Jenner should retain her olympic records in light of this, as we must now either claim that Bruce Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner are two entirely different people (which we know is not true), or that Bruce Jenner was, in fact, a woman participating in a men's event. It is only fair to all involved that women receive their credit as champions of the Decathalon and that the men racing Ms. Jenner are not expected to compete with a superior, streamlined being such as herself.
We urge Ms. Jenner to support the transgender community by giving up the medals earned by competing against the wrong gender.
Thank you, and congratulations to Ms. Jenner for her courage!
#givebackthegold"
So, just because she's a woman now means she isn't worthy of the gold medals she won when she was Bruce Jenner? What do you think?
Claiming that Caitlyn was in violation of the rules when she was a male is just absurd. Those are her accomplishments!
Maybe the committee rules regarding women competing in men's sports and vice versa can be interpreted as they can't physically be the opposite gender competing in a different gender's sports at that time.
Rules can be so complicated, can't they?
It's good to know these are just petitions made by the people and aren't definitive actions.
