Members
of the Joint Task Force (JTF) over the night in Sokoto, capital of Sokoto
State, engaged members of Boko Haram in a fierce gun battle that lasted several
hours.
At
least one member of the sect was killed and another captured by the JTF. The
task force also released one pregnant woman and two children believed to have
been abducted by the insurgents.
It was gathered that six bombs, six AK-47 rifles and three pistols were seized by the
JTF in the gun duel that happened in Unguwar Dare section of the town.
The
gun battle coincided with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan during
which all Muslims of age are expected to fast and live in abstinence.
