APPLE INTRODUCES 8-INCH IPAD MINI, UPDATED FULL-SIZE IPAD

Apple has introduced a new, smaller iPad called the iPad mini.

The little tablet, which comes in black and white, has a 7.9-inch screen size with a 1,024x768-pixel resolution. This is the same resolution as the original iPad, meaning the same software will be supported.

The iPad mini is 7.2mm thick, which is thinner than the full-size model, and is about half the weight. It has HD cameras for FaceTime video calls and photography, including a five-megapixel lens on the rear.

On the inside is an Apple A5 chip, as seen in the iPhone 4 and the new iPod touch, as well as 4G LTE, 10 hours of battery life and the new eight-pin Lightning USB port connector. It has 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of storage

UK pricing starts at £269 from 2 November.

Apple has also announced a faster full-size iPad, which features a new Apple-designed A6X chip that company says has twice the performance of the previous model.

The new model is visually the same as the previous design, and comes in the same specifications.
