Prime Minister refused to confirm that the Islamist fanatic filmed beheading
hostages in Syria was the Londoner Mohammed Emwazi after he was finally
identified yesterday.
"Jihadi
John" and "Jailer John" are believed[4] to be pseudonyms for
Mohammed Emwazi, a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS, or
"Islamic State"), known for beheading several hostages in 2014 and
2015.
The
FBI announced in September 2014 that it was aware of Jihadi John's real
identity, although it was not publicly released until February 2015. British
Prime Minister David Cameron has ordered MI5, MI6, and GCHQ to track and
capture Jihadi John. The U.S. Senate has approved a $10 million bounty for
information leading to his capture.
On 26
February 2015, the BBC and The Washington Post identified Jihadi John as
Mohammed Emwazi, a 27-year-old British man from a middle-class family who grew
up in West London and graduated from the University of Westminster with a
computer programming degree.[5][6][7] The BBC reported that Emwazi is known to
British security services;[5] these services, however, have refused to confirm
or deny the report, citing the ongoing investigation.[6]a
