12 Most-Respected Nigerian Musicians In Ghana

This article was culled from omgghana, however, credits to the author of the article despite the facts that I do not totally agree with him/her on the selection of the artists especially the inclusion of MI and exclusion of Olamide.
However, it is a good write up for my indispensable LLife readers/followers. Please read and leave your opinions.

12. IYANYA
Thanks to Yvonne Nelson, Iyanya’s career surged. His songs “Kukere” and “Your Waist” became one of Nigerian songs on heavy rotation on radio, TV and pubs in Ghana. Iyanya has since been performing in Ghana. Rumors has it that he will take a cool $25,000 to perform in Ghana (at least). He is one of the popular/respected Nigerian artistes in Ghana (even though that seems to be fading after his not-so-good performance at the VGMA 2014).

11. D’BANJ
D’Banj is not the popular Nigerian artiste in Ghana anymore. He used to be top 3 Nigerian artistes in Ghana. He had songs like Suddenly, Oliver Twist, Oluro Maje and more which was hot during it’s time. Since he parted ways with Don Jazzy it has affected his Ghanaian fan-base a lot. He hasn’t made hit songs since the split. D’Banj still is rated high in Ghana regardless.

10. WANDE COAL
From what we know, Wande Coal used to be a dancer for D’Banj. He exhibited his vocal abilities to the then Mo-Hits team and he never looked back. In Ghana Wande Coal has popular songs like Rotate, The Kick, Kiss Your Hand (with R2Bees), Bumper To Bumper, Go Low which has given him space in the Ghana entertainment world. He is one of the Nigerian artistes making an impact in Ghana.

09. 2FACE IDIBIA
He was the one-time most popular Nigerian musician in Ghana. Since his African Queen song, 2Face kind of declined in Ghana but stepped his game up with songs like Ihene Me, Implication and many more. He took his title back as one of the most prominent Nigerian artistes in Ghana.

08. KCEE
Since Kcee’s “Give It To Me” song, Kcee never looked back. He has had hit songs like Limpopo, Pullover and more on heavy rotation in Ghana. He has joined the list of MVP Nigerian artistes in Ghana. He is billed to perform at this year’s Ghana Meets Naija concert.

07. FLAVOUR
The Nigerian king of Highlife has proved himself worthy in the Ghanaian music scene. In Ghana, he broke through with his song Ashawo (Nwa Baby). He has since released songs like Baby Okwu, Ada Ada, Kwarikwa, Adamma and more. He still continues to release songs that penetrate Africa-wide.

06. ICE PRINCE
Since Ice Prince broke through with Oleku, he never looked back. He has been one of the most popular Nigerian artistes in Ghana. He has wowed us with songs like Aboki, Superstar, Gimme Dat, I Swear, Magician and more. Ice Prince has made himself and his brand proud by working with international acts like Gyptian, French Montana and more.

05. BURNA BOY
Burna Boy came through with a new style. With his new exceptional music style which is a fusion of Dancehall, Pop and Afrobeats, he has managed to storm Ghana with songs like Yawa Dey, Tonight, Like To Party and more.

04. M.I.
He is the highly acclaimed king of rap in Africa. He has been co-signed by several legends in the African music industry. He was the only artiste that was selected from West Africa for the Coca Cola FIFA world cup 2014 campaign. In Ghana, M.I. has made good songs like One Naira, Beef, Number 1, Undisputed Chamption and more.

03. DAVIDO
He is mostly refereed to as the rich man’s son but he has proved himself worthy in Ghana and Nigeria, his home country. Davido since his breakthrough has about 5 top singles which has made him one of the common visitors to Ghana for performances. Among the top Davido songs in Ghana are Dami Duro, Aye, Skelewu, Gobe, One Of A Kind, All of You and more. Davido has done his homework so well, he has joined the table of men among the top-rated Nigerian musicians in Ghana. In 2014, he won the best international act at the annual Ghana Music Awards.

02. WIZKID
Popularly known as the Star Boy, Wizkid only knows how to make hit songs. Every song Wizkid releases is HOT. He has got songs like Azonto, I Love You, Samba (Beat Of Life), The Matter, Caro, Ginger, Tease Me, Pakuromo and more which are songs which have enjoyed heavy rotation on radio in Ghana. Wizkid has performed here countless times.

01. P-SQUARE
You won’t be penalized if you say P-Square are the Obrafour or Reggie Rockstone among the Nigerian artistes in Ghana. For close to 10 years, the twins have wowed Ghanaians with songs like Temptation, Busy Body, E No Easy, Personally, Do Me, Alingo, Taste The Money and more. They are still one of the top-rated musicians in Ghana. The are rumored to charge nothing less than a $100,000 to perform anywhere outside Nigeria.
