Donald Trump was sworn in to office Friday as the 45th president of the United States, and not long afterward, a petition was created on the official White House site demanding he release his tax returns.

Trump, a former reality TV star and businessman, was dogged by reporters and rivals on the campaign trail to release his taxes, which he refused to do because he says he is "under audit."

Many eyes were expected to be on Hillary Clinton when the former Democratic presidential candidate arrived to the swearing in event of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States on Friday.

Her arrival with husband Bill Clinton occurred at the same time President Barack Obama and President-elect Trump were leaving the White House for the traditional limo ride of the outgoing and incoming presidents to the U.S. Capitol, providing a split-screen moment on TV news of the former election rivals.

Somali Town Bans Lavish Wedding Spending

A Somali town has banned lavish weddings to encourage young people to marry and stop them migrating.

Receptions in hotels would no longer be allowed and only three goats could be slaughtered to feed guests, Beled Hawa's commissioner told the BBC.

Spending limits of $600 (£500) on furnishings for a couple's new home and up to $150 for the bride price had also been set, Mohamud Hayd Osman said.

It is not unusual for a groom's family to spend about $5,000 on a wedding.

The BBC Somali service's Bashir Mohamed says this amount includes the bride price, wedding reception, outfits and jewellery for the bride as well as new furniture

"Islamic teachings indicated that getting married should be cheap," Mr Osman told the BBC Somali service.

THE Federal Government has declared that Nigeria will regain her lost position as the world’s largest cocoa producer and exporter soon.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, disclosed this during the inauguration of the Cocoa Relaunch Committee at the headquarters of the Ministry in Abuja.

Ogbeh said the government’s move to realise the lofty ambition was possible with the inauguration of Dr Olayiwola Oluwole-led committee for the country to attain the top spot from its current seventh position in world cocoa producing countries’ ranking. He said: “In-house here, we can say it is a shame for us to be seventh on the list of cocoa producers in the world. But we must reverse it to be at the top and that is why we are here. This is the time to do it and no other time than now.

Kamiyah Mobley was abducted from a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital nearly two decades ago from her birth parents and raised in South Carolina under the name Alexis Manigo. Authorities closed the case after reconnecting Mobley’s birth parents with the 18-year-old, but she was visibly torn apart at the arrest of the woman she knew as “Momma.”

The bizarre case began when Gloria Williams, now 51, had a miscarriage in South Carolina and traveled to a Jacksonville facility, pretending to be a nurse caring for Shanara Mobley’s baby girl, who was just eight hours old.

The civil rights leader told “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd that he believes in forgiveness and working with others, but he said it would be exceptionally hard for him to forge a relationship with President-elect Trump.

“It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president,” he said in a portion of the interview, published Friday.

Agricultural Bank Of China Fined $215M For Falsifying Transaction Documents

Agricultural Bank of China has agreed to pay a $215 million penalty for falsifying transaction documents involving China & Russia and trying to cover up US dollar trades with sanctioned Middle East Countries.

The New York State's Department of Financial Services (DFS) said that officials of the Chinese bank's New York branch were found to have masked U.S. dollar transactions that would have revealed violations of trade sanctions and money laundering laws. The Bank officials also silenced a whistle-blower who attempted to carry out internal investigations.   That action led to the officer's resignation in 2015.

DFS further discovered that certain Invoices involving China and Russia appeared to have been falsified. Other documents suggested that U.S. dollar trades were made with Iranian counterparties, and included information indicating dollar transactions made for the benefit of a sanctioned Iranian party.  The DFS also accused the Chinese bank of conducting dollar transactions involving an Afghan Bank client associated with narcotics traffickers and illicit cash flows.

About 2,000 mostly black protesters ignored steady rain to march and rally near Washington's Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, as speakers urged them to fight for minority rights and President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law, which Trump has vowed to dismantle.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, the rally's organizer and a veteran civil rights leader, said Democrats in Congress needed to be sent a simple message: "Get some backbone."

23bn Diezani Bribe: 100 INEC Staff Face Suspension

The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to suspend 100 of its officials this month over various amounts of money they allegedly collected from the N 23bn bribe fund facilitated by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources , Diezani Alison -Madueke , ahead of the 2015 general elections .

INEC confirmed to The PUNCH on Tuesday that it had received a report on the indicted staff from the investigations carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

It was learnt that the electoral umpire had started reviewing the report and that those indicted in the report would go on suspension.

A source in INEC stated that those found culpable would receive their letters of suspension before the end of January .
