RAFA BENITEZ BLAST TEAM AFTER WEST HAM LOSS

Chelsea ManagerChelsea’s interim Manager Rafa Benitez has criticized his players after their bleak performance at West Ham United on Saturday which saw the European champions bow to the Hammers in a 3-1 defeat.
Chelsea who started the game on a bright note after taking the lead through a Juan Mata’s goal also controlled possession to 83 – 17%.
The 52-year-old has admitted his current squad (aside injured captain John Terry and Frank Lampard) lack winning spirit.
“We have some of them, “he said. “But, obviously, we have also players who are injured who will come back and they will give another character or something different.”
He also acknowledged the fact that most players in the current Chelsea squad like to possess the ball but are not strong without the ball.
“And when you are not in possession, physically, you have to cope and manage with players who are quite strong and we didn’t do it well.”
Chelsea plays FC Nordsjaelland in the final fixtures of the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Wdnesday.
