OKLAHOMA FATHER DIES IN POLICE BRUTALITY

OKLAHOMA FATHER DIES IN POLICE BRUTALITY

(CNN) -- It was supposed to be a fun family outing to the movies, but then Nair Rodriguez' 19-year-old daughter got under her skin. They fought, she said, and she slapped her daughter.
Moments later, police arrived on a domestic dispute call at the Moore, Oklahoma, theater and confronted -- not Nair Rodriguez -- but her husband Luis. They took him down, and after the encounter on February 15, he was dead.
Cell phone video taken by his wife and released this week shows the final minutes of the takedown.
Nair Rodriguez accuses officers of brutality. Police say they were following protocol and used no undue force.

FACEBOOK'S MARK ZUCKERBERG: WHATSAPP 'WORTH MORE THAN $19 BILLION'

(CNN) -- Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, speaking to mobile tech leaders in Barcelona, said WhatsApp, the mobile messaging app purchased by the social media giant last week, was "worth more than $19 billion."
Zuckerberg's comments at Mobile World Congress, referencing the eye-watering price paid for WhatsApp, were met with surprise.
But Zuckerberg said the company was "a great fit for us. Already almost half-a-billion people love using WhatsApp for messaging and it's the most engaging app we've ever seen exist on mobile so far.
"It's on a path to connecting a billion people. There are very few services in the world that can reach that level and they're all incredibly valuable."
Zuckerberg said there were no plans to harvest data from WhatsApp messages, in answer to a question from the audience. "That's the service that people want, we would be silly to change it."
Asked if he thought concerns over privacy could be a problem for Facebook as it aims for greater global penetration, he said: "The NSA issue is a real issue, especially for American internet companies.

JONATHAN SURROUNDED BY 'INCOMPETENT' FRAUDS, SAYS SANUSI

Lagos (AFP) - Nigeria's former central bank chief Lamido Sanusi on Sunday described the president who ousted him as a simple man trying to do well who has been undermined by incompetent and fraudulent aides.
Sanusi, widely respected by economists in Nigeria and abroad, was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday over alleged financial misconduct, a move seen by many analysts as politically motivated.

Sanusi has accused the state Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) of misappropriating $20 billion (14.5 billion euros), allegations that earned him powerful enemies across the government.
In an interview with AFP in Lagos, Sanusi said many of the people advising Jonathan are sycophants who do not speak frankly about the extent of corruption in government.

“When you sit with President Jonathan himself he appears a nice simple person who is trying his best to do his best," Sanusi said.

"His greatest failing obviously is that he is surrounded by people who are extremely incompetent, who are extremely fraudulent and whom he trusts.”
Jonathan, who has led Africa's most populous country and top oil producer since 2010, is expected to seek another term in elections next year, but must first overcome unprecedented divisions within his own party.

GUNMEN KIDNAP PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S COUSIN IN BAYELSA

President Jonathan's cousin, Chief Inengite Nitabai was abducted yesterday Sunday February 23rd in the Otuoke community in Bayelsa State by unknown gunmen.
Nitabai, who is said to be the compound chief of Jonathan’s family, was abducted by 10 suspected kidnappers about 9pm yesterday. Six of the assailants reportedly forced their way into the house, while the remaining four stayed outside, monitoring activities. They robbed the home and left with chief Nitabia in his Sports Utility Vehicle.

When contacted, spokesman for the Joint Military Task Force, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed the abduction to Punch.
“Information available to me is that a certain Chief Inengite Nitabai was abducted by about 10 unknown gunmen about 9pm at Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Government  Area by using his private vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered at Onuebum community waterfront. The Deputy Commander, JTF, Commodore Ime Ekpa and a team of security agents have visited the location to assess the crime scene.”

UGANDAN PRESIDENT SIGNS ANTI-GAY BILL, DEFYING THE WEST

ENTEBBE, Uganda (Reuters) - Uganda's president signed a law imposing harsh penalties for homosexuality on Monday, defying protests from rights groups, criticism from Western donors and a U.S. warning that it will complicate relations.

The new bill strengthened existing punishments for anyone caught having gay sex, imposing jail terms of up to life for "aggravated homosexuality" - including sex with a minor or while HIV positive.

It criminalised lesbianism for the first time and made it a crime to help individuals engage in homosexual acts. Gay rights activists in Uganda said they planned a legal challenge.

Ugandan officials broke into loud applause as President Yoweri Museveni put his signature to the document in front of foreign journalists at his State House outside the capital.

"There's now an attempt at social imperialism, to impose social values. We're sorry to see that you (the West) live the way you live but we keep quiet about it," he said.

The legislation exposes the wide gulf between the continent's often culturally conservative administrations and many of the foreign donor states that support them. Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh last week called homosexuals "vermin".

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING HER HUSBAND TO DEATH

A Washington woman is facing charges of murdering her husband who went missing 10 years ago after detectives uncovered human remains buried on her Arlington property last week.
But 48-year-old Michele Donohue is sticking to the story she told husband Byron Wright's company and a divorce court when he disappeared in 2004 - that he left her for a young, rich, redheaded woman.
Detectives never even knew Wright was missing, though his sister says she tried to report his disappearance in 2009 and was turned down.

They only started investigating his death in December when a jailhouse informant stepped up, saying he knew someone involved in the murder cover-up.
That informant knew a man named Michael Hueslein that lived on the property and helped bury the body with two other men, including the suspected murderer's current husband Joel Donohue.
The informant was sent on a visit to Hueslein who told him that the body was buried in a garage on the property underneath a concrete slab.
Detectives dug up the ground in the garage on Thursday and found severed arms and legs in the dirt and the remainder of a human body in a large plastic tote.

OBAMA ASKED HBO CHIEF FOR ADVANCED EPISODES OF GAME OF THRONES

It has been well documented that President Obama is a fan of quality TV dramas and he has now furthered his popular culture credentials after requesting advance copies of hit shows Games Of Thrones and True Detective.
The President of the United States of America reportedly made the request to HBO chief executive Richard Plepler at a state dinner for France last week.

WWE OWNER VINCE MCMAHON 'SNIFFING AROUND' NEWCASTLE UNITED

World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon has been linked with a shock move to take full ownership of Premier League side Newcastle United in what would be one of the biggest shocks to world football ever seen.

McMahon is reported to be interested in purchasing the club from current owner Mike Ashley, and a bid could materialise in the not too distant future with the Londoner keen to sell the Magpies. But does that mean we’ll be seeing a Geordie edition of the showcase event Wrestlemania anytime soon? Well, yes. We very well could be.
British website www.winnersports.co.uk have claimed the billionaire has been “sniffing around” the club with a view to making a bid.

They claim a Newcastle insider said: “Vince McMahon has been sniffing around the club and seems keen on pursuing his interest.

ARSENE WENGER SLAMS JOSE MOURINHO, CALLING HIS REMARKS 'SILLY' AND 'DISRESPECTFUL'

Arsène Wenger hit back at Jose Mourinho on Sunday night, claiming that the latter was an embarrassment to Chelsea and “silly” and “disrespectful” for his latest attack on him.
As the animosity between the pair deepened, Wenger responded for the first time to Mourinho’s “specialist in failure” comments on Friday in the aftermath of Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round, when the visitors felt aggrieved not to be awarded a second penalty by referee Howard Webb.

“I do not want to go into those silly, disrespectful remarks,” Wenger said immediately after the game. “I never spoke about him in my press conference and I will not start that. The only thing that I know, it is more embarrassing for Chelsea than for me.”

In his post-match press conference the Arsenal manager was just as unimpressed with what Mourinho had said. “I am embarrassed for him, honestly,” Wenger insisted, again denying he had said anything to insult Mourinho in the first place. “I would say that I didn’t speak about him at all in my press conference [on Friday]. Let’s focus on things in football. I am more disappointed for Chelsea than for me.”

POLICE SMASH MAFIA DRUG SMUGGLING PLOT

A plot by Italy's 'Ndrangheta mafia and one of America's most notorious crime families to smuggle hundreds of millions of pounds' worth of cocaine into Europe from South America was smashed last week by arrests on both sides of the Atlantic.

The criminal groups had been plotting to hide cocaine in liquid form in tins of pineapples and coconuts and then smuggle it via a new route through Gioa Tauro, a massive container port in Calabria, the southern Italian region which is the 'Ndrangheta's stronghold.

The tins of fruit were to have been handled by a Guyana-based firm, with a Mexican drug cartel acting as an intermediary.

The plot, which was in an advanced stage, was thwarted as a result of investigations over a two-year period by undercover agents in both countries.

TYRESE: WANTS HER EX JAILED FOR BEING CONTEMPTIBLE

TYRESE: WANT HER EX JAILED FOR BEING CONTEMPTIBLE

According to report reaching LL (Lasgidi Life) via TMZ, it was reported that Tyrese Gibson has made good on his promise to go after his ex-wife for not letting him visit their kid ... and worst case scenario for her is JAIL.

TMZ broke the story ... cops came to Norma Gibson's home Tuesday night over Tyrese's right to take their 6-year-old daughter away for a visit.  The cops talked to a very upset Tyrese and left.  Tyrese left too ... without his daughter.

He's now filed a formal motion with the court to hold Norma in contempt for violating their custody order.  In the legal doc -- obtained by TMZ -- Tyrese quotes from the custody order, which seems pretty clear -- "[Tyrese] shall have custody of Shayla every Tuesday with pick-up from school, and if no school, pick-up from [Norma's] residence at 10:00 a.m."

It's interesting -- Tyrese showed up Tuesday NIGHT -- not at 10 AM.

We're told Norma told Tyrese their daughter was sick and that's why she wouldn't let her go.

FATHER BEATS 4-YEAR OLD SON TO DEATH IN LAGOS

This is one of the most touching stories I had to share on this blog. This is act is not a trait of a father or human being but that of a beast and insanity. I don’t know but my spirit is so down and all I could wish for is that the story is not true.

According to PM News,  a beast called father has allegedly beaten his four-year old son to death, padlocking his mouth to prevent him from shouting while the beating lasted. This occurred on Monday afternoon at 7, Adetola Adelaja Street, Meiran area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria..

PM News gathered that the man, Mr. Chris Elvis, who claims to sell computer accessories, allegedly locked his son, Godrich in the room, padlocked his mouth and beat him to death with an object that inflicted deep cuts all over his body, claiming that the boy was an Ogbanje (evil child that dies and reincarnates repeatedly).

The man landed in trouble when his landlady, Mrs Popoola who was in the market, was informed that something was happening in her house. She rushed home and discovered that the boy had been beaten to death by his father.

She rushed to Meiran Police Station to report the matter. The police stormed the house around 9 O’clock last night to arrest Elvis who was about to escape.

US BILLIONAIRE DONALD TRUMP BUYS IRISH COURSE FOR £12.4M

US billionaire Donald Trump has bought Doonbeg golf course in the west of Ireland after losing a legal challenge to an offshore wind farm project within sight of his Scottish golf resort.
The flamboyant tycoon paid in the region of £12.4m after receivers were appointed earlier this year – although he will have to spend around €1m immediately on storm damage repairs.

Mr Trump said he was switching his focus to Ireland after a Scottish judge rejected his legal action against a wind energy project off the Aberdeenshire coast, although he has vowed to appeal the Scottish decision.

Mr Trump had claimed the offshore turbines would spoil the view from his luxury golf course there. His new focus on Ireland may raise hopes that Mr Trump will look north of the border again.

NEW YORK MOST WANTED DRUG BARON CAUGHT IN MEXICO

Mexican officials say federal police have arrested a man suspected of leading a drug cartel that moved 76 tons of cocaine into the U.S. between 2000 and 2003.
The U.S. has been offering a $5 million reward for the capture of Tirso Martinez Sanchez, 47, who was arrested Sunday in the city of Leon.
Officials say Martinez worked with powerful cartels including the Carrillo Fuentes and Beltran Leyva organizations, as well as Colombian smugglers Victor and Miguel Mejia Munera.

Martinez is being held in the high-security Altiplano prison in Leon, Mexico.
The State Department says Martinez's group used front companies to smuggle cocaine in boats, rail tankers and trucks across Mexico's border with California and Texas and on to major U.S. cities.
He is wanted on charges filed in New York.

TWO FRIENDS WRONGLY JAILED FOR MURDER SET FREE AFTER 20 YEARS

Two Brooklyn men who spent over 20 years in jail for a brutal crime they didn't commit were finally exonerated this week.
Antonio Yarbough and Sharrif Wilson were imprisoned for the 1992 murders of Yarboughs mother, younger sister, and a cousin.
A Brooklyn District Attorney concluded that new DNA evidence proved their innocence and decided their wrongful conviction was prompted by police manipulation and forced coercion.

The Huffington Post reports that Yarbough was the one who discovered his family's bodies so he felt compelled to call police to the scene of the crime.
Afterwards, cops asked a shocked and grieving Yarbough to come down to the station to help them figure out who murdered his family. The boys were in their early 20s, frightened, and vulnerable to suggestion.
'Before you know it, I had this photograph shoved in my face, and I was being threatened and slapped around, and they wanted me to sign a false confession. And I wouldn't,' Yarbough said.

Yarbough's friend Wilson was also asked down to the station and was pressured and coaxed into saying that Yarbough was the culprit behind the bloody murder.
'I was scared, afraid; I was lied to, manipulated into believing that I was going to go home, if I do tell ... what they said happened.' Wilson said.
In 2005, Wilson actually admitted to falsely confessing that his friend committed the crime. Later on, there was cold hard evidence to prove that they were both innocent.

MEET THE WORLD'S MOST PROLIFIC CREDIT CARD HACKER

(CNN) In 2007, Ukrainian Maksym Yastremsky was the most prolific credit card hacker in the world. He'd stolen over 40 million cards from mostly U.S.-based retailers. He'd cost credit card companies over $11 million.

In 2008 he was arrested in Turkey after the U.S. Secret Service infiltrated his network. Here's how they did it:

Flashback to 2004, when the Secret Service -- which handles currency crimes -- got wind of a criminal ring using stolen credit cards to buy high end electronics in the Los Angeles area.

Rather than bust the ring outright, they struck a deal. The ring leader would introduce an undercover Secret Service agent to the source of his stolen credit cards under the guise that the agent was a new partner in the criminal ring. Naturally, the idea was to move up the food chain, and ultimately nab the cyber criminals at the heart of the hacking underworld.

"So what I ended up doing was communicating via instant message and I started talking to people in South East Asia," said the undercover agent, in an exclusive interview with CNN.

Related: Target to invest in chip-based cards

As part of the ruse, the agent explained that he needed all the tools to start a new ring that used phony cards to make purchases -- the machines to make the cards, the special plastic to make them out of and, most importantly, the stolen card numbers. For those, he was connected with Yastremsky.

"He had the most recent, the largest credit card data," said the agent. "Often times I knew about the breaches before they were being reported. These people were my friends online and they were selling me their new databases as they were getting them straight from the breach."

Yastremsky worked with a variety of hackers to steal the data -- sometimes placing malware directly on the networks at major retailers. As soon as you'd swipe your card, the criminals would have your info.

To solidify the burgeoning relationship -- and to help build the criminal case -- it was decided that the agent would meet with Yastremsky in person. Up until then their meetings had only been online, and Yastremsky was known only by his internet handle -- Maksic.

EDEN HAZARD THE FINEST YOUNG FOOTBALLER IN THE WORLD-JOSE MOURINHO

Jose Mourinho described Eden Hazard as the finest young footballer in the world after the winger helped Chelsea end Manchester City's 100 percent home league record.
Branislav Ivanovic got the only goal in Chelsea's 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium but winger Hazard, 23, maintained his excellent recent form. And while Chelsea manager Mourinho believes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rank above the Belgian for now, he feels Hazard has the ability to get better still and challenge them.

He said: "I keep saying he has to improve. He needs to have his feet on the ground. Ronaldo and Messi are Ronaldo and Messi. Eden Hazard is probably the best young player in the world with legs to go there, but give him time."

Chelsea became the first team to stop City scoring at the Etihad Stadium in the league since Birmingham drew 0-0 in November 2010. And their central defenders Gary Cahill and John Terry excelled, prompting Mourinho to say he had no problem if the Chelsea captain comes out of international retirement to go to next summer's World Cup.

Without Terry, England manager Roy Hodgson has partnered Cahill with Everton's Phil Jagielka in the centre of defence.

Mourinho added: "I think Jagielka did a very good job but John is playing amazingly well. Now it is up to the FA, to Roy and to John. The decision they make is the decision I accept."

CHAN 2014 BEST XI -UZOENYI, ALI & ODUNLAMI INCLUDED

Nigeria, Ghana and champions Libya had three players each featured in the squad, while Zimbabwe supplied the remaining two players.

Libya goalkeeper Mohamed Abdaula was picked in goal, behind a back line featuring Nigeria’s Kunle Odunlami, who had a fantastic tournament, Partson Jaure of Zimbabwe, Joshua Tijani of Ghana and Libya’s Ali Salama.

The most valuable player of the competition, Ejike Uzoenyi, led the midfield, that also paraded Kudakwashe Mahachi of Zimbabwe, Ghana’s Jordan Opoku and Mohamed Elgadi of Libya.

Rabiu Ali of Nigeria made the attack with Ghana’s Seidu Bansey who did not find the back of the net throughout the championship.

However, no Super Eagles player was good enough to make the reserve of the competition’s best according to Caf.

TUBE STRIKE DISRUPTS JOURNEYS FOR LONDON COMMUTERS

(The Guardian) Overground trains and buses reported to be highly congested as severely limited service operates across tube network
The first of two days of transport misery has begun for commuters in London after a 48-hour strike by tube workers started on Tuesday night.

Vastly diminished services and the closure of many stations has disrupted journeys for London Underground customers. No tube trains were running until around 7am on Wednesday, although managers, non-union staff and volunteers have started a limited service on sections of most lines.

However, some major central stations were reported to be closed despite plans to keep them running, with large queues of would-be travellers outside.

Overground trains and buses were reported to be highly congested.

London Underground plans to run some services until 11pm on Wednesday and Thursday with a slimmed down staff and Transport for London (TfL) "ambassadors" deployed to give advice at stations. The majority of lines are only operating intermittent trains along sections of the route, without stopping at every station.

DEADLY SCHOOL SHOOTING IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Moscow high-school student shot a teacher and a police officer dead and held more than 20 other students hostage in a classroom on Monday before he was disarmed and detained, police said, just days before Russia hosts the Winter Olympics.

In a rare school shooting in Russia, the attacker entered his school in northern Moscow carrying a rifle and held students and a teacher hostage in a biology classroom, police in the capital said.

Police later said the attacker had been detained and had been led out of the school and into a waiting car. According to the Lifenews website, he initially shot one officer and then opened fire at others who arrived at the scene.

"The person who took 20 people and a teacher hostage is a student in the upper classes at the same school. He has been neutralized and all the students have been freed," Interior Ministry spokesman Andrei Pilipchuk said on state TV.

JUSTIN BIEBER & PAL ON TOPLESS STRIPPER (18+)

(TMZ) Say this for Justin Bieber ... at least he shares ... even when it comes to strippers' boobs -- as seen in this photo of Justin and his pal Khalil Sharieff sucking on one breast each during a recent party.

According to sources with direct knowledge ... the stripper, who came fully-loaded with giant fake breasts and a classy rainbow-colored Playboy tattoo, was hired to "perform" for Justin and his pals during a party at an L.A. recording studio.

During the festivities, Justin and Khalil decided to get a taste of the action ... at the same time ... with Justin taking a love-bite out of the left mammary for good measure.

Sources at the party say the stripper looked old enough to be Justin's mother ... maybe that explains the urge to breast-feed.
