The
police in Ibadan, the Oyo State
capital, have confirmed the arrest of a 75-year old herbalist, Ahmed Akekaka,
for possessing human skulls.
The
arrest of Akekaka in his house in Apete, a suburb of Ibadan, was made following reports from
residents at the Eleyele Police Station.
According
to reports, Adekaka was arrested with two human skulls kept in a container. The
herbalist however denied that the skull belonged to humans even though he
confessed that the said items were found in his possession.
He
alleged that Yisa Adeleke of Inalende in the city supplied him the heads.
Confirming
the arrest, Police spokesman Daniel Oboyi, said that the skulls have been sent
for examination to establish claims of the suspect that they were not human
skulls.
Oboyi,
who said the case was being handled by the State Criminal Investigation
Department (CID), explained that the result of the test would soon arrive.
