Manchester United vs Manchester City Friendly In Beijing Cancelled

Monday's International Champions Cup match between Manchester United and Manchester City has been cancelled due to poor weather in Beijing.
Both managers, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, had expressed concerns about the pitch at the Bird's Nest Stadium following very heavy rain in the Chinese capital.
A tweet on United's account read: 'Due to recent weather events, tournament organisers & participating clubs have decided to cancel tonight's International Champions Cup game.'

A statement released by Manchester City said: 'The cancellation was made in the interest of player safety and comes following extreme weather events in Beijing over a multiple day period, that have left the playing surface in a condition deemed to be unfit for play.

'The conditions experienced in Beijing on July 19 and July 20 were reported as being some of the most extreme weather conditions the Capital of China has experience in recent history. Regular rain occurred also on the July 21 and July 22.'

Manchester United and Manchester City fans who travelled more than 5,000 miles for the pre-season derby in Beijing, only to see it cancelled, will get a full ticket refund and a thank you video from the club’s players in return of spending thousands of pounds to travel to China.
