D’Tigress - Queens Of Africa Basket Ball

In the heart of Abidjan, under the bright lights of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, the roar of Nigeria’s D’Tigress echoes louder than ever. With every rebound, every fast break, and every defiant stare down the court, they are not just chasing another title — they are cementing a legacy.

This is more than a tournament. It’s a celebration of where they’ve come from, who they are now, and what they’re building for the future.

🔙 Then: The Spark Before the Flame

Before the dominance, there was struggle. In the early 2000s, D’Tigress was a team of raw talent and quiet resilience. Their historic win at the 2003 FIBA Women’s World Cup — the first by any African team — was a whisper of what was to come.

But resources were scarce. Recognition was limited. And yet, the players persevered. They laid the foundation for a dynasty in waiting, fueled by passion and pride.

🔥 Now: The Era of the Roar

From 2017 to 2025, D’Tigress has become the undisputed queens of African basketball, winning four consecutive AfroBasket titles and now charging toward a record-breaking fifth in Côte d’Ivoire.

With a commanding 78–64 victory over Mali, they claimed their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title — and seventh overall, extending their unbeaten streak to 29 games.
