Pastor's Pregnant Wife Killed In Indianapolis Home Invasion

A pastor discovered his pregnant wife shot inside of their Indianapolis home

Earlier this week, Amanda Blackburn was murdered in her Indianapolis home, and police believe her death is the result of a home invasion. Davey Blackburn, a pastor at Resonate Church, says he discovered his dying pregnant 28-year-old wife after returning from the gym Tuesday morning. She arrived at Indiana University Methodist Hospital, where she later died. The Blackburns' 1-year-old child was in the home at the time of the burglary.

"I have not only lost my ministry partner and support but also my very best friend. There is no way to prepare yourself for circumstances like these." Davey Blackburn said, according to Las-Vegas Review Journal.

Police initially had no leads. They say that at around 6:45 a.m. neighbors heard a gunshot. Investigators learned of another burglary that occurred two doors away from the Blackburns' home. Police believe the second burglary has connections to the one that left Blackburn dead.

"You're not as good as you think you are. You left behind evidence. We will find you," Indianapolis Police Chief Rick Hite said, according to the New York Daily News.

A break in the case came when video evidence came into play. Davey Blackburn is no longer a suspect after time-stamped footage corroborated his story of leaving the gym Tuesday morning. Investigators soon learned of surveillance footage showing a hooded individual, attempting to hide his face, walking around the neighborhood. Neighbors also reported seeing a strange black SUV in the area.

The suspect is described as a short black male in light-colored pants and a hooded sweatshirt. Police are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information on the murder suspect.

"We know who killed her. We have a picture, but not a name," Police Capt. Craig Converse told a press conference, according to the Daily Mail.
