Google Can Rig Presidential Polls, Researchers say

The world's most-used search engine is so powerful and national elections are so tight, that even a tiny tweak in Google's (GOOGL, Tech30) secret algorithm could swing the 2016 presidential election, according to Robert Epstein, senior research psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology.

In an op-ed on Politico.com, Epstein said that he and a team of researchers studied behavior in undecided voters who had been exposed to rigged search results. By displaying results that shone a more favorable light on a particular candidate the researchers could shift opinion towards that favored candidate.

The study boosted a candidate's favorability rating by between 37% and 63% after just one 15-minute search session. The five double-blind, randomized studies included 4,500 undecided voters in the United States and India.

15 Biggest Mistakes Women Make in a Marriage

From learning to live with a new human being to adjusting to a whole new family, compromises and adjustments are the name of the game. The unfortunate part is that more often than not everyone tends to blame the women when things go wrong. Well we blame them too. But not for the reasons you think.

Not knowing their value: One of the biggest mistakes women make is underplaying their own strengths in a marriage.

Giving too much: Marriage is a give-and-take affair. If you find yourself at the giving end and don’t see any efforts from his side then you are definitely at fault.

Relying on another person for your happiness: While it’s great to have a partner who knows exactly what makes you happy, relying on your man to dictate your happiness will never work out well.

Depending too much: Whether you are a working woman or a stay-at-home wife, being emotionally independent will always give you an edge in the relationship.

Over thinking: There are some things that are just not meant to be. So stop over analysing and just let certain things go.

Meet Nigerian Yahoo Boy Who Makes N100M Every 6 Months (photo)

A fraudster who posed as an American general serving in Afghanistan conned two women out of more than £300,000 in just six months in what detectives believe was a multi-million-pound global scam.
The conman used images of real-life US soldiers to befriend the women over Skype saying he wanted to move to the UK to marry them.
He posed as “General James Krulak” and “General James Raul” and persuaded them to help transfer his $8.5million (£5.4million) retirement fund — a “box of treasure” from a family in Afghanistan.
Today Scotland Yard issued an appeal, saying it has identified two other possible victims of the fraudster but fears there may be many more women who have lost money.
Detectives from the Yard’s new FALCON cyber crime unit say they have uncovered evidence the con was part of a “sophisticated global network” preying on vulnerable women.
Nigerian national Robinson Agbonifoayetan, 32, of Welling, is facing jail after pleading guilty to two counts of fraud by false representation at Isleworth crown court.

12 Reasons Why Masturbation Should Be In Your Daily Health Routine

As we just exited National Masturbation Month, it makes sense to look back on what we learned. But, first things first, we all know that this topic is pretty uncomfortable for most people to talk about or admit to doing. That's understandable because it's been ingrained in the human mind for decades upon decades that masturbation is a damning act, generally because of religion and cultural etiquette.
The Bible itself never specifically discusses the subject however does provide a very strict warning against "spilling your seed on the ground" which was then described by the Catholic Church as a sin that deserves eternal damnation (it was also called "onanism" after Onin, a character in the Bible). In fact, by WWI, masturbation was termed "self-abuse" and was medically described to be more dangerous for young boys than things like lying or stealing. And, of course, there wasn't even a mention of girls or women because, well, how could that even be a possible act they might engage in, right? Something like this definitely adds to the female reluctance to discuss the subject.

But, does everybody do it? Yes. Like, everybody? Yes. Everybody. And although the above mentioned is indicative of the shame/guilt/fear so many people have or feel around admitting to/talking about masturbation, recent studies are going to start changing that.
According to Indiana University's National Survey Of Sexual Health And Behaviours, more than half of American adults masturbate between 1 and 4 times per week and men do it more frequently than women but it's not going to stay this way many think.

There are several health benefits to masturbation (both physically and mentally) and they're very worth while to know and keep in mind. I'm not suggesting that people should be complete open books on this topic (if you're not comfortable with doing so) but I do think that the massive stigma around discussion (especially for females) really needs to be adjusted.
Check out this list of 12 things that both the natural and scientific world agree are great health benefits behind this act ( that's a tale as old as time).

Why You Should Pursue Your Dream Even If Nobody Encourages You

man-walking-hill

Live life on your own terms

Whenever you try to make positive changes in your life, you’ll experience resistance.
Sometimes, the resistance is internal, meaning you vs. yourself.
Waking up earlier to go to the gym sucks. Much easier to press “snooze.” Politely declining that slice of pizza when your coworkers just happen to be throwing another impromptu party….agony.
Same thing with starting a business. Sometimes you put so many obstacles in your own way that you forget why you wanted to start the damn thing to begin with.

That’s all internal resistance to change. Usually, that type of resistance is actually a good sign. It means you’re stretching yourself. But along with internal resistance, you’ll also face a lot of external resistance from people around you.
From parents who tell you to “be realistic”… “I know you like dance…but are you sure you don’t want to major in computer science? Starting salary is $80,000!”
To coworkers who tell you that you should just be happy for even having a job…“OMG in THIS economy??!!”

WOMAN LEADS ROBBERY IN LAGOS

26-year-old Victoria Momidu, is a lady one could described as a shy person at first glance. But as she stood along with her partner in crime behind the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Command, Ikeja, one could best imagine how calm but deadly she could be while operating alongside her robbery gang.

Victoria and one other member of her gang were arrested recently by the men of Lagos State SARS, who had been on their trail after receiving a tip-off about the gang’s plan.
In her confession, Victoria said: “I was hustling before I met Okokawon, who is my boyfriend. He told me to join his gang. When she was asked to explain what she meant by hustling, she replied in one word “prostitution.”

She and her gang had robbed some passengers along the Mile 2- Badagry Expressway. They operate from private cab, a police source alleged.

It all began some months ago, Victoria narrated. She said another member of the gang, Okolawon, (also in SARS custody) had approached her on the need for her to join the gang.

Victoria Momidu said she was once a prostitute but had to stop prostituting six months ago because she was not making enough money from the aged long profession.

DJ Cuppy's Africa Event & Nigerian Billionaires

For those lucky enough to get invited to the blow-out bash and the opening of DJ Cuppy’s first-ever Pan-Africa 8-Country tour inside the plush Marquee of Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday night, they were treated to the hedonistic side of Nigeria’s billionaires.

The partying-power circle included top politicians, investing titans, oil barons, banking magnates, private equity mavens, media moguls and other celebrities led by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

10 Shocking Secrets Of Flight Attendants

1. IF THE PLANE DOOR IS OPEN, WE’RE NOT GETTING PAID.
You know all that preflight time where we’re cramming bags into overhead bins? None of that shows up in our paychecks. Flight attendants get paid for “flight hours only.” Translation: The clock doesn’t start until the craft pushes away from the gate. Flight delays, cancellations, and layovers affect us just as much as they do passengers—maybe even more.
Airlines aren’t completely heartless, though. From the time we sign in at the airport until the plane slides back into the gate at our home base, we get an expense allowance of $1.50 an hour. It’s not much, but it helps pay the rent.

2. LANDING THIS GIG IS TOUGH.
Competition is fierce: When Delta announced 1,000 openings in 2010, it received over 100,000 applications. Even Harvard’s acceptance rate isn’t that low!
All that competition means that most applicants who score interviews have college degrees—I know doctors and lawyers who’ve made the career switch.

But you don’t need a law degree to get your foot in the jetway door. Being able to speak a second language greatly improves your chances. So does having customer service experience (especially in fine dining) or having worked for another airline, a sign that you can handle the lifestyle.
The 4 percent who do get a callback interview really need to weigh the pros and cons of the job. As we like to say, flight attendants must be willing to cut their hair and go anywhere. And if you can’t survive on $18,000 a year, most new hires’ salary, don’t even think about applying.

The Ban Of Porn In India & Its Media Reactions

Internet users in India woke up to a huge shock, on 1st August 2015, when instead of getting access to their favourite pornographic websites they were greeted with a message-"The site has been blocked as per the instructions of Competent Authority,"-on their computer screens! The outrage grew as news spread online about the possible ban by the government. According to reports, over 850 websites were blocked, by issuing notices to internet service providers.

"We have written to the ISPs (internet service providers) to restrict free and open access to 857 websites. This direction is based on the observations made by the honourable Supreme Court on 10 July and using section 79 (3b) of the IT Act read with Article 19 (2) of the Indian constitution," telecom ministry spokesperson N.N. Kaul told a leading Indian online media portal.

Is this the way ahead?
With less than a fortnight to go for Independence Day, this is stark infringement of individual freedom. It is an ironic attempt to ban porn in a country where a porn star has got effortlessly mainstreamed in Bollywood.

The Iweala Who Worked For Me Is Different From The Iweala Who Worked For GEJ- Obasanjo

Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, took some time off his busy schedule to speak to a PREMIUM TIMES team at his Abeokuta home about some of the issues he wrote about in his book, “My Watch”.

The retired army general – in between joking with his interviewers, and threatening to walk out of the room – spoke at length about the reasons behind some of the key decisions he took while in office, his relationship with some key political figures, and the Halliburton bribery scandal.

Below is excerpt of the first part of the interview.

PT: Thank you sir for granting us this opportunity to talk about your book. Some people say it is selling like hot cake, I don’t know if it is true but that’s what people say. How has it been? What has been the financial reward from there?

Obasanjo: The book was not written for financial reward. If it was written for financial reward, now that…what do you call him… Kashamu had done the silly things he did, I would have sued him for damages and I would have got damages. But thats not what the book was written for. The book was written for my experience, my understanding, my knowledge, and what you may call wisdom as a result of all these, to put it for others to be able to learn or acquire knowledge. That’s one. Two, it was also written to set the record right. One of the things that people don’t know, people that I call arm chair presidents is that they don’t know what goes in before decisions are made or what the man making decisions, what leads him to making decisions.
Take for instance the decision on privatising all refineries. I explained that what I met were refineries that were not working, refineries that were given to an amateur for repairs, for maintenance, what they call turn around maintenance to the company of Emeka Offor – Chrome Group. Where has Emeka Offor maintained refineries before? Where has he? That’s what we met. So the refineries were not working. I called Shell. I said ‘come and help us, just run the refinery.’ Shell was frank with me.
It said that ‘we make our money from upstream, downstream is more of a service. Two, your refineries are small. Port Harcourt is 60,000 barrels a day. Refineries now go 300,000 barrels a day. Three, your refineries have not been maintained well. Four, we don’t want to go into the corruption that is entailed in all these’. I said ‘ok, come and help me run it’. They refused. Now when I then saw people who agreed to take 51 percent equity in two of the refineries; they did not promise to pay, they paid 750 million, I was dancing and I said ‘look, this is God sent.’ My successor came (and) they cancelled it and paid them the money back. Those refineries today – you won’t get them because they’ve become scrap.

Mrs. Duke-Abiola, the Akasoba of Kalabari land in the Niger Delta, stated further that she had evidence from the White House to prove the claims.

She made the comments during an interview with The Nation.

BOBBI KRISTINA FUNERAL ENDS WITH SEND-OFF FROM WHITNEY HOUSTON

The casket was taken inside St. James United Methodist Church in Atlanta for today's funeral, where the Brown and Houston families will no doubt be separated.  There is extreme tension between the families ... centering on money, control and just bad blood.

Bobbi Kristina's funeral was interrupted Saturday morning by an outburst from Leolah Brown, Bobbi's aunt, who was swiftly removed from the church with the help of Tyler Perry.
