ALISON-MADUEKE GETS COURT INJUNCTION STOPPING REPS FROM PROBING N10 BILLION JET SCANDAL

Nigeria’s embattled petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has secured a court injunction ordering the House of Representatives to discontinue an ongoing investigation of how the minister allegedly squandered more than N10billion of public funds leasing private jets for two years.

A federal court in Abuja restrained the House, its committees or representatives from summoning Mrs. Alison-Madueke or requesting that she produce papers, documents or give evidence relating to the jet spending.

The presiding judge, A. R. Mohammed, also barred the lawmakers from ordering the minister’s arrest for failing to appear before the House Committee on Public Accounts, which is probing the allegation.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke is accused of spending billions of naira for the services of private jets she deployed for mostly personal trips. State oil company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, supervised by the minister, has absolved the minister of wrongdoing.

As petroleum minister, Mrs. Alison-Madueke has been repeatedly investigated by the National Assembly. Multiple reports have blamed the minister for either maladministration, corruption or violation of the law.

CHELSEA & LIVERPOOL FANS AT WAR AFTER EPL MATCH

MOURINHO CELEBRATES, BRENDAN RODGERS REACTS

Am The Man and The Answer To All Top 7 Teams on EPL
José Mourinho says his team played brilliantly after Chelsea defeated league leaders Liverpool on Sunday. Mourinho says his team has no chance of winning the Premier League title and says either Manchester City or Liverpool will be the champions this season. Chelsea are second in the league table and play Norwich City on 4 May

Asked if Chelsea represented the most negative visitors to Anfield this season, the Liverpool manager replied: "I'm not going to say. This game will prepare us for Crystal Palace. We will have to deal with long balls forward which we did very well today and we will have to deal with long throw-ins and got the chance to do that today. I can't fault the players, we just didn't find the breakthrough. Credit to Chelsea for that, they sat in really deep. There were probably two buses parked today instead of one."

LUIS SUÁREZ WINS PFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Luis Suárez has been named the Professional Footballers' Association player of the year for 2013-14, becoming the first non-European to win the award, after an excellent season for Liverpool.

Suárez beat his club-mates Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge to the prize having scored 30 goals in the Premier League so far, including two hat-tricks and four in one match, propelling Liverpool to their best campaign in recent years and within striking distance of a first title since 1990.
Suárez was voted in by members of the PFA ahead of Chelsea's Eden Hazard in second and City's Yaya Touré in third. All the nominees for the individual top award were named in the team of the year.

THE 3 MOST DISGUSTING BREAKFASTS IN AMERICA

Over the past few weeks, several major fast food chains have introduced new and visually disgusting additions to their morning menus, prompting what experts are calling the "breakfast wars." Why? Because apparently there is $10 billion to be made off of Americans who can't crack their own eggs in the morning.

Clearly, we had to see what the fuss was about, so we sent one lucky researcher to find out which is the least of three evils: the stalwart (McDonald's Egg White Delight McMuffin), the faux elite (Starbucks Bacon and Gouda Sandwich), or the crazy-eyed, shit-stained new kid (Taco Bell Sausage Waffle Taco)? Remember, whoever wins, society loses.

#1. Which Breakfast Is Ugliest?

If you've started your day by shouting about food out a car window, you're not expecting the "Mona Lisa" on a plate. I get that. But at some point, you've got to ask yourself this hard question: "How revolting is the food I'm wolfing down as I drive this vehicle to work?"

McDonald's Egg White Delight McMuffin

At first glance, the Egg White Delight McMuffin looks like McDonald's is making a solid effort at offering healthy breakfast food. Sure, there's bacon involved, but it's Canadian, so it's healthier. It's not until you look closer that you realize those egg whites look like someone fried up some Elmer's Glue and stuck it in a bun.

CRIME RATE IN ENGLAND AND WALES FALLS 15% TO ITS LOWEST LEVEL IN 33 YEARS

Fall is one of biggest in history of Crime Survey of England and Wales and is driven by a 22% fall in violent crime
The crime rate in England and Wales fell by an unexpected 15% to an estimated 7.5m offences, its lowest level since the official survey began 33 years ago.

The fall is one of the biggest in the history of the authoritative Crime Survey of England and Wales and was driven by a 22% fall in violent crime, a 25% fall in some types of household theft and a 15% fall in vandalism.

The Office of National Statistics said the 15% fall in the overall crime rate meant that crime had fallen by 25% since 2007/08 and by 60% since its peak level in 1995.

The second official measure of crime, the contested police recorded crime figures, which have lost their national statistics status, showed a much smaller annual fall of 2%. Statisticians said this was possibly the result of a renewed focus on the quality of crime recording by the police following the political controversy over their integrity.

However, the police recorded crime figures reveal a continued upward pressure in specific crimes thought to be related to economic hardship, particularly shoplifting, which rose by 6% across England and Wales last year.

But this masked a growing north-south pattern, with the underlying figures showing rises in shoplifting of 20% in the West Midlands, of 19% in Nottinghamshire and 16% on Merseyside.

The police figures also show the first fall for two years in the smartphone street thefts with the category of thefts from the person, which includes pickpocketing, falling by 2% last year.

BREAKING NEWS: GONE TOO SOON--- BARCELONA EX-MANAGER 'TITO'

Like a candle in the wind, Tito Vilanova has finally said goodbye to the world after battling with cancer. Tito, the former Barcelona manager was confirmed dead today (Friday afternoon) at the age of 45.

He was admitted to hospital on Thursday following a downturn in his health which required an operation on his stomach on Thursday, with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirming the trainer was "fighting" for his life.

Vilanova's public health problems began during his final season as Pep Guardiola's assistant when he was diagnosed with cancer of the parotid gland.

He took over from his long-time friend for the 2012-13 season but suffered a relapse just six months into his tenure as head coach.

He underwent surgery in December 2012, with Jordi Roura taking his place on the bench while he recovered in New York, before returning in March 2013 to see out the rest of the reason and guide Barca to La Liga victory.

However, his continued health problems saw his step down as coach of the Catalans last summer, with Gerardo Martino taking the reins in his place.

Vilanova has largely - and understandably - been out of the spotlight since he left his position at Camp Nou but rumours of his ill health have sadly been revealed to be true. He is survived by a wife and two children.

DANGOTE, OKONJO-IWEALA NAMED IN TIME MAGAZINE 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL

Time Magazine’s 2014 list of the 100 most influential people in the world is out and two eminent Nigerians made the roll.

Included on the list is the Coordinating Minister of Finance Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and foremost Nigerian industrialist, Aliko Dangote.

She makes the list in consideration of her role in stabilizing the economy of Nigeria, the world’s most populous black nation and Africa’s largest economy.

Africa’s richest man and Nigeria’s industrialist, Aliko Dangote is listed in the league of former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton; Founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos and famous American singer, Beyoncé Knowles in the titans category.

Aliko has been commended for his business activities which drive economic growth across the continent, but more as a leader constantly in search of ways to bridge the gap between private business and public health; his role in eradicating Polio in Nigeria and for being an advocate for agricultural research and malaria control.

THE SIMPLE STORY OF NIGERIA……… A WORLD WITH 2 EXTREMES.

Erin captures the Nigerian story perfectly.
In-spite of all the negative news coming out of Nigeria there is still hope-----Erin Burnett

My Point About The Above Video:

The pictures the rest of the world are getting about Nigeria are not truly what the great Nation is all about despite that certain things and situations might not be appropriate or absurd, yet the country Nigeria is a great nation as a whole.

Every nation or economy has her positive and the negative sides though some nations manage and polish their images than others either due to good governance, vast resources, technological advancement and citizens’ readiness to make it work.

I believe with time and positive political changes as well as growing economy, my country Nigeria will metamorphose to a Nation loved and envied by all Nations. A Nation where investors will be begging to have permission to invest and tourists will pick as destination for vacations. A nation where peace will be the order of the day as it used to be. A nation where there is no discrimination among citizens and foreigners.

All I know is that the major holocaust in Nigeria at the moment and for a while is Leadership but sooner or later it will be a thing of the past and a true and charismatic Leader (and not a President) will emerge to put things that are absolutely wrong in right manners. However, this journey to good Leadership starts with every Nigerian that is either within or outside that beautiful and populous nation called Nigeria.

BREAKING NEWS: Mr. BEAN EMERGED AS THE NEW MAN UNITED MANAGER

Can’t stop laughing

MARTINEZ: MOYES WILL BOUNCE BACK

Everton manager Roberto Martinez is confident predecessor David Moyes will have no problems in getting a new job after being sacked by Manchester United after just 10 months in charge.
The Scot was relieved of his duties after a disastrous season by United's standards having been given the unenviable task of succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson after spending 11 years at Goodison Park.

Defeat to Everton last weekend was the final straw for the Old Trafford board, who are now looking for a new boss, but despite the fall-out seemingly tarnishing Moyes' reputation, Martinez is confident he will not be damaged in the long term.

"It is not a nice situation when a manager loses his job, especially someone who has such strong links with our club," said the Spaniard.

WIFE USED MINIVAN TO SLAM INTO HUSBAND AS HE WALKED ALONG STREET

A 21-year-old Virginia woman is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly driving into her husband with a minivan and then beating him at the roadside.
Concerned motorists started to call police at about 10.30pm on Sunday to report a woman kicking a man next to a wrecked vehicle.
Quaneisha Torres is accused of driving her minivan in the wrong direction along a one-way street, before smashing into her husband who was on the edge of the road.
Witnesses claimed that as the 31-year-old, who has not been named, tried to crawl away from the wreckage, a 5ft 4in woman, who weighed about 200lb, began kicking him.
Police told WUSA 9 that other drivers had called 911 to report seeing a minivan going in the wrong direction before crashing into a guard rail.
The witnesses claimed to see a man crawl out from under the wreckage, only to be kicked by the woman driver of the minivan.
Officers reported that when they arrived at the scene, they found Torres standing over the bloodied body of her husband.

It is believed the husband had been walking on the road when his wife, who was following him in a vehicle, ran into him.

RUSSIAN POLITICIAN ORDERS AIDES TO ‘VIOLENTLY RAPE’ PREGNANT JOURNALIST AT PRESS CONFERENCE

A far-right Russian politician is facing legal problems after ordering two of his aides to ‘violently rape’ a pregnant Rossiya Segodnya journalist in front of other reporters at a press conference.

Vladimir Zhironovsky, of the pro-Kremlin Liberal Democratic Party,  launched into an animated tirade against Rossiya Segodnya journalist Stella Dubovitskaya, – who is six months pregnant – after she asked him an innocuous questions about  possible sanctions against the pro-Western government  of Ukraine, according to the Daily Mail.

Responding to her question, Zhironovsky grabbed two of his male aides, telling them, “When I say, you run to her and violently rape her” before shoving them in her direction and shouting: “Go and kiss her. Grab her.”

Male and female journalists in attendance were shocked at the outburst with one male journalist asking, “She is pregnant, why are you attacking her?”

Nigerian Muslim clerics recruiting Boko Haram members – Cameroon Govt

Nigerian Muslim clerics living in the border towns of Cameroon and Nigeria are recruiting Boko Haram members in their mosques, the government of Cameroon has alleged. Worse still, government officials in the North East states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa collaborate with the terrorists and take bribes from them, thereby, hindering the fight against the

terrorists. Governors of these states also capitalise on their civilian fears to berate the army and the federal government.

These allegations were published in a report, yesterday, by US-based online military news agency, StrategyPage. The magazine explains that the army wants governors in the affected states removed because “many officials in those states are cooperating with Boko Haram (to avoid attack) and are taking bribes from the Islamic terrorists.

“Some of these officials are covering themselves in case Boko Haram should gain power and the governors are often just responding to civilian fears of army misconduct,” it noted.

ALEX FERGUSSON & OTHERS' REACTIONS ABOUT DAVID MOYES SACK

David Moyes has been sacked by Manchester United, who finally ran out of patience with him and did not believe he could be trusted with the £150m overhaul the club intends to carry out this summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson, October 2013

"I'm not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United's results. United are in good hands with David Moyes. He will be fine. He's a good manager."

David Beckham, February 2014

"I think that David Moyes is a great manager, but it takes time. You know he’s joined a club like Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and there’s a transitional period."

Eric Cantona, March 2014

"I think Moyes signed because he has a long-term project. I think he is strong enough to handle the pressure."

Roy Keane, March 2014

"I think United will be all right and David Moyes will get plenty of time. The man deserves it. He’s got vast experience, but his staff and a couple of senior players, they have to step up to the plate."

Paul Scholes, March 2014

"He's nine months into the job and you have to stand by him. He's made a couple of signings that haven't worked out yet as he would have liked. In the summer he's going to need backing, there's no doubt about that."

BREAKING NEWS: MANCHESTER UNITED SACK MANAGER MOYES

Manchester United manager David Moyes is sacked only 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs, with Nicky Butt as his assistant, will take charge until the end of the season. Giggs has served as player-coach under Moyes while Butt has worked with the reserves.
The Glazers handed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward the mandate to dismiss Moyes less than 12 months into his £4million-a-year, six-year contract after United’s defeat at Everton on Sunday confirmed their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

A statement on the club website read: "Manchester United has announced that David Moyes has left the Club.

10 REASONS WHY THIS HAS BEEN THE MADDEST PREMIER LEAGUE EVER

According to Sam Cunningham:
There was yet another monumental shift in the Barclays Premier League on Wednesday night; in the title race, in the battle for fourth and in the fight for survival. It was just another example of why this is the maddest season in top flight history.

RETURN OF THE NOT SO HAPPY ONE
Jose Mourinho returned to these shores after a six-year absence.
Oh, how he was missed.
In his first season back at Chelsea, the bustling, bristling, some-times barbed Mourinho has not failed to leave his mark.
'The title race is between two horses [Arsenal and Manchester City] and a little horse that needs milk and needs to learn how to jump,' he said following his team's victory against City in February.

According to the Portuguese his masseur Billy McCulloch gave the side the team talk before the 1-0 win.
Following a goalless draw in January, he accused West Ham of playing 19th Century football against them.
He shaved his head using Fernando Torres's clippers when most of the rest of his team were away on international duty in November.
He attacked Arsene Wenger by branding the long-serving Arsenal manager as a 'specialist in failure' then rubbed salt into the wounds by trouncing them 6-0.
He's still not finished yet.

DPO RAPED SALES GIRL IN DETENTION

A 31-year-old cook, Idowu Akinwunmi, has narrated how the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Onikan Station, SP Adekunle Awe, allegedly raped, extorted and threatened her life.

The victim told PUNCH Metro that the incident occurred on April 15, 2014.

She explained that  on April 14 she was arrested by the police for “spurious” reasons.

She said, “I work at an eatery on Keffi Street, Obalende, as a cook. The eatery also has a tailor’s shop in the compound and it belongs to the same person. There is also a quarters where we all live in the compound.

“Most of the workers are from Cotonou, Benin Republic. On Monday, a popular customer, known as Friday, came to eat. He later left, but some moments later, he returned to say he could not get a bus home.

“Friday had been making advances at me, but we were not a couple. I allowed him to sleep over.”

Akinwunmi said around 1am, her boss, who discovered that someone was sleeping over, called the police to arrest her and Friday.

She said two other people, who slept over at the tailors’ quarters were also rounded up.

She said, “My madam called policemen to arrest all of us.  I had only a pair of shorts, a shirt and a wrapper on. I had N11, 000 in my pocket and my phone was not with me. On getting to the station, I got the phone of a policewoman and used it to call one of the tailors to come and help.

MEN ARE HAPPY TO LET WIVES BE BREADWINNERS

She has been dubbed the ‘Queen of the Aga Saga’, thanks to her tales of middle-class romance.
Joanna Trollope said that it is becoming increasingly for common for women to become the breadwinners within a family
But it seems that Joanna Trollope may have to re-think the plot-lines of her popular novels from now on, if her thoughts on modern gender roles are anything to go by.
The 70-year-old author said that it is becoming increasingly for common for women to become the breadwinners within a family, and claiming that she frequently meets men who tell her they were glad to be able to give up work and become carers for their young children.
Miss Trollope said that she interviewed many men in the 30s and 40s while researching her novels, and was astonished at how many are now out-earned by their partners.
Speaking at the Cambridge Literary Festival, she said: ‘The statistic is that above 25 per cent of working women in the UK out-earn men they live with.

MOURINHO THE SPECIAL ONE NOT A FAILURE

I am not a fan of Chelsea neither do I really like Mourinho but there is always a point in life when you need to admit the abilities, knowledge or gifts in others. I finally admitted that Mourinho, is not just a coach but a special one that matters when the need arises. He might not be appreciated by many tabloids, paparazzi and fans of other clubs but he is sincerely a man that gives them news to talk about either on the field or in the press conference. He not only makes news that attracts the highest attentions in the soccer world but he concludes it with performance that speaks for his comments.

Take the Championship League Quarter Final with PSG for instance:
He made two substitutes changes and each substitute scored important goals respectively. It takes more than just trial and error to do certain things that could result into expected outcomes like he did last night against the highly rated and star studded PSG.
Jose Mourinho & Zlatan Ibrahimovic

“They know that we are a team with a special spirit, even if we are not in the maximum of our potential. [Nemanja] Matic and [Mohamed] Salah cannot play in the Champions League and we always have somebody suspended. It was Ramires today, the next one is [Branislav] Ivanovic.

They [our upcoming opponents] know that we are a team with a special spirit, even if we are not in the maximum of our potential.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

“But, for sure, we are going to enjoy the same way I told the players we had to enjoy this second leg in the quarter-final. We have to enjoy to play against the great opponent waiting for us.”

I Care Full-Time For My Disabled Partner And Need A Break

I am a man in my early 50s. I have been caring full time for my partner who is 10 years younger for many years. She has a rare genetic disability that has got worse over the years and I had to give up work to look after her. As our previous accommodation came with my job, we had to move out and were rehoused by the council into a two-bedroom flat.

I have found that the stress of caring for her constantly, without any breaks, has got harder. It's been years since we've been able to go away, and one day just slips into another. We are both very isolated due to the nature of her disability and neither of us has any family to speak of. We have gradually lost touch with friends and associates.

We did try to get some help from social services but they haven't been much help as we would have to pay for any care or respite and we can't afford it. This is now compounded by the recent benefit changes and having to pay the "bedroom tax" for our so-called spare bedroom – my partner sleeps in there. I am still quite a few years off retirement and don't know if I can hang on that long the way things are going.

I am aware of a local carer's group but it's difficult being a man, and it's difficult for me to leave my partner.

The only other way I have found of making contact with others in similar situations is through social media and chat rooms for carers and I am a private person. Really, it would be so nice to escape all this occasionally and do something to take my mind off it all.

I'm sorry if this sounds self-pitying, I try not to be, but we all need things in life to look forward to. This isn't a life for either of us really, and I don't know when it will all end. I still love my partner a lot and want her in my life, but not like this.

Alh. Nurudeen Lemu Accolade Receiving Speech At National Conference

Since the commencement of debate on the president’s speech at the national conference, the chairman placed embargo on clapping.
However, that embargo was overturned by delegates after a rousing and electrifying speech by a delegate representing the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Nurudeen Lemu from Niger State.
His speech got a standing ovation and thunderous round of applause. The transcript of his speech that Set Delegates on fire

Alh. Nurudeen Lemu, a delegate from the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs

As a delegate, and as a people representing people of faith in God from the Islamic perspective, one thing we believe is that God will protect the community that stands for justice even if they are not Muslims and God will not protect the community that goes contrary to justice even if they call themselves Muslims.
God is not a religious bigot. He is not a male chauvinist. He is not an ethnocentric tribalist. God is not the oppressor of anyone. God is with those who care; those who want for others those things they want for themselves.
One tendency for people who claim to follow a religion is to slide into the position of believing that we are better than the others. We overestimate our virtues and underestimate the goodness in others. The tendency is for us to become spiritually arrogant; to forget that others are people like us.

There is always a tension between representing our religious communities or our ethnic communities and our loyalty to the virtues and values and teachings of our religion even those lofty ideals of our ethnic groups.
