GUNMEN STEAL £34MILLION IN CASH FROM SECURITY VAN IN LIBYA

Gunmen stole £34million in a heist on a van carrying local and foreign currency for the Libyan central bank.
Ten armed men surrounded and stopped the van in the coastal city of Sirte carrying 53million Libyan dinars (£26.8million) and foreign currency worth $12 million (£7.5million), state news agency lana said.
The van was coming from Sirte airport where the cash had been flown in from Tripoli for the local central bank branch.

'The robbing is a catastrophe not just for Sirte but the whole of Libya,' Abdel-Fattah Mohammed, head of Sirte council, told Reuters.
He said the local authority had asked several times for better security for such transports.

The Libyan government has been struggling since the 2011 ouster of Muammar Gaddafi to assert control of a country brimming with armed militias, gangs and radical Islamists.
The OPEC country's oil exports fell to less than 10 per cent of capacity on Monday after protesters shut down ports and oilfields in the west.
Similar strikes over pay or political demands have already paralyzed most of the eastern oil ports.

Pop star, Rihanna, was recently asked to leave an Abu Dhabi mosque after taking a series of photographs.

OH! MY GOD- $394 MILLION ON A WEBSITE- OBAMACARE WEB

The government spent at least $394 million in contracts to build the federal health care exchange and the data hub. Those contracts included major awards to Virginia-based CGI Federal Inc., Maryland-based Quality Software Services Inc. and Booz Allen Hamilton Inc.
However, the project is not meeting up to its expectations as there have been many hitches and failures with this website.
As questions mount over the website's failure, insider interviews and a review of technical specifications by The Associated Press found a mind-numbingly complex system put together by harried programmers who pushed out a final product that congressional investigators said was tested by the government and not private developers with more expertise.

MALALA YOUSAFZAI LEAVES JON STEWART IN SHOCK ON DAILY SHOW

Malala Yousafzai, the teenager activist shot by a Taliban gunman last year, appeared on the Daily Show this week ahead of the pending announcement for the 2013 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Discussing her new book 'I Am Malala' the 16-year-old's profound response to one of Jon Stewart's questions left him in awe.

Stewart asked her what she thought when she first heard of Taliban threats to her life.

"I started thinking about that the Talib would come and he would just kill me," she said.

"But then I thought, ‘If he comes, what would you do Malala? Then I would reply to myself, ‘Malala, just take a shoe and hit him."

FIRST GAY MARRIAGES IN NEW JERSEY TAKE PLACE

Seven same-sex couples were married en masse in Newark on Monday morning, minutes after New Jersey officially became the 14th state in the US to allow gay marriage.

Newark mayor Cory Booker officiated at the ceremonies, describing it as "one of the greatest privileges" of his life in one of his last acts in office. Booker, who rose to national renown through savvy use of social media and a penchant for heroic acts, was elected to the US Senate last week and will be sworn in later this month.

"It is officially past midnight. Marriage is now equal in New Jersey," Booker announced at Newark city hall at 12.01am. The assembled crowd of activists and soon-to-be newly weds cheered.

Booker had refused requests to officiate at marriage ceremonies since being elected mayor in 2006, in protest at same-sex marriage being unlawful in the state. A judge ruled last month that New Jersey must recognise same-sex marriages, and despite late attempts to delay the ruling – including by the state's governor, Chris Christie – it was upheld on Friday. Booker made up for his seven barren years in office as he swiftly joined a total of nine couples in holy matrimony – including two heterosexual couples – within around 20 minutes.

BBC WORLD NEWS INSULTS NIGERIA ON TWITTER

When one of Nigeria's long line of military rulers, General Olusegun Obasanjo, seized the land on which Abuja was to be built in the late 1970s, he could hardly have imagined that the city would remain unfinished 35 years on.

Abuja has a makeshift, haphazard feel to it: A place of bureaucrats and building sites, its streets eerily empty after the buzz of Lagos or the enterprising bustle of Kano.

It is one of the most expensive cities in Africa, and one of the most charmless.

The skyline is dominated by the space-rocket spires of the National Christian Centre and the golden dome of the National Mosque, facing each other pugnaciously across a busy highway at the city's centre.

Its other striking landmark is the vast construction site of the Millennium Tower, which, if it is ever completed, will be Nigeria's tallest building.

I MISS DON JAZZY & I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE GENEVIEVE AS MY WIFE- D’BANJ

“If I say I don’t miss Don Jazzy, I am lying. I have spent the better part of my career with him. I was married to him in a way (laughs). So I miss everything about Mo’Hits: the family, the movement, and the vibe of being in the studio with him. I miss the jokes and the arguments, but I have since keyed into the notion that nothing can stop a moving train.

“Nevertheless we can always do music together. The track, ‘Top of the World’ was produced by a Grammy Award Winner. The songs ‘Finally’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me Nonsense’ was produced by my producer while ‘Oliver Twist’ was produced by Don Jazzy. So, why won’t I have him on my 10 years anniversary album?
“I have never said I am a musician; I am an entertainer. Some people say I can pick up a microphone and become a comedian. Therefore nobody should come and ask if I want to go into acting because they should know I am already an actor. It depends on when the right script and concept lands in my hands.

FANI-KAYODE TO ODUAH: YOU TALK LIKE A MARKET WOMAN

Former minister of aviation Mr Femi Fani-Kayode has slammed the incumbent minister of aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, saying she should conduct herself in a manner befitting her office  and stop talking like a market woman.
Fani-Kayode stated this in a statement yesterday, in a reaction to a report in which Oduah had asked him to bow his head in shame instead of speaking out of context in an essay in which he called for her resignation.
Describing Oduah’s tirade on him as uncalled for, malicious and petty, Fani-Kayode said, “My advice and counsel to her is to grow up and stop being petty. She is meant to talk like someone who befits her office and not like a market woman. I do not like joining issues with women publicly which is why I was very gentle with her in my essay, though I made my point.
Fani-Kayode also asked the minister to realize the sensitive nature of the aviation sector and effect positive change on the sector, saying that she holds it a duty to save the country from avoidable deaths.

AFRICA HAS 55 BILLIONAIRES, RICHEST WOMAN

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — A pan-African magazine says Africa has many more billionaires than previously reported, 55 of them worth $143.88 billion including a Nigerian said to be the richest black woman in the world.

“Move over, Oprah!” Ventures Africa says in its latest edition published this week.

Editor-in-chief Uzodinma Iweala said Tuesday their estimates are “on the conservative side.”
The report predictably identifies Nigerian manufacturer Aliko Dangote as the richest African worth $20.2 billion, among 20 Nigerians listed.

It surprises by identifying oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija as the richest black woman in the world, worth $7.3 billion.

Forbes magazine in its respected list had estimated Alakija’s fortune at $600 million and Oprah Winfrey’s worth at $2.9 billion. Iweala said his researchers are “closer to the ground” and expect to unearth more African billionaires.

20 Habits That Will Make You A Success

1. Don’t define success with a dollar amount, but in relation to your happiness.

The habit of defining success with a dollar amount will lead you to constantly chasing a higher price point. It’s a chase that will never end, and a view of success that will never be attained. Get in the habit of seeing your success and your happiness in the same light.

 2. Read before you write or work.

Reading a good book will get the creative juices flowing, the brain learning, and your knowledge base growing. Try reading for 30 minutes to start your day.

 3. Wake up at the same time everyday.

Having a good sleep routine will help you have more energy to do more work during the day.

 4. Always finish your to do list.

Get in the habit of never leaving anything that you wanted to finish at the beginning of the day, incomplete at the end. If you simply do what you set out to do, it will be hard for success to elude you.

5. Keep your to do list small and scaled.
Have 1 or 2 things that are important to finish, and make sure you finish them first. The rest of your tasks should be tended to only after your most important ones have been completed.

IRAN PASSES A LAW ALLOWING MEN TO MARRY THEIR 13-YEAR-OLD ADOPTED DAUGHTERS

A new law in Iran that allows men to marry their adopted daughters at the age of 13 has caused major concern that the country's new president is not as progressive as originally thought.
President Hassan Rouhani has been hailed as a new moderate voice in the controversial Middle Eastern government but the approval of the new law shows that the extreme beliefs in the intolerant country have not evaporated.
The law was approved by the Iranian members of parliament and maintains that girls can marry with the permission of their father at the age of 13 and young boys at the age of 15.

The timing of the law being passed through the first legal hurdle, as reported by The Guardian, comes just days after Rouhani's landmark phone call with President Obama- the first between the two countries leaders in 34 years- and an interview with CNN where he admitted the existence of the Holocaust- something that has long been denied by the religious extremists in Iran.
The law in question pertains to the legal marriage age, but the concern about incest is an additional factor for human rights advocates.

ALEX FERGUSON SAID NO TO COMING BACK AS HE AFFIRMS MOYES AS THE RIGHT MANAGER

In an interview with PBS (US TV network), Ferguson confirmed his belief David Moyes was the right man to replace him.

And clearly there will be no going back on that decision.

"I'm not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United's results," said the 71-year-old.

"You would be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager.

"United are in good hands with David Moyes. He will be fine. He's a good manager.

"I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. I've got a new life.

"I want to go to the Kentucky Derby and the US Masters, the Melbourne Cup. I want to visit vineyards in Tuscany and France."

Besides, with United having given Moyes a six-year contract on Ferguson's recommendation, he is hardly likely to sanction a change so quickly after he spent 26 years in the job.

"I believe in building a football club rather than building a football team," he said.

RESIDENT DOCTORS IN NIGERIA EMBARK ON INDEFINITE STRIKE

The association of resident doctors in Nigeria have embarked on an indefinite strike, to press home their demand for irregular payment of the IPPIS and non payment of salary to some of their members. Other demand which the group is angry with is the poor funding of residency training by the federal government. The strike was announced today by its national President, Mr. Jibril Abdulahi in Kano. The medical group had two weeks ago

issued a two weeks ultimatum and threatened to embark on the indefinite industrial action should the Federal Government fail to pay the accumulated salaries of its members within two weeks.
“The decision to go on an indefinite strike was taken during an extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association held at the National Hospital in Abuja,” Abdullahi said. “The Federal Government is playing game with the issue of budgetary allocation for the training of specialists. Though we had some deliberations, but up till now nothing has been done. To make the matter worse, the government refused to issue a White Paper on the agreement reached” Mr. Abdullahi had said two weeks ago.

JAY Z TALKS PAST AS DRUG DEALER

Jay Z has said that he got his business nous from drug dealing.
The hip-hop mogul said that selling crack cocaine on the streets of New York in the 1980s gave him skills he needs in his new role as a sports agent.

He told Vanity Fair magazine: "I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer. To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up."
Jay Z, who has an 18-month-old daughter Blue Ivy with singer Beyonce, said he sold crack but never used it.
